CARR--Sixty years old, of 1646 Sixth avenue died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in a local hospital after a lingering illness. Mr. Carr had been in failing health for the last eight years and became seriously ill about three months ago. He was born in Charleston, March 22, 1878. Surviving are his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Bartram and Miss Bernice Carr at home and Mrs. W. H. Danaher of Huntington; his mother, Mrs. Mary Carr of Charleston and a brother, C. P. Carr of Charleston. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The body is at the Shelton Funeral home. "The Herald-Advertiser", Huntington, West Virginia, Sunday, February 12, 1939, page 2: JAMES C. CARR James C. Carr, 60 years old, of 1646 Sixth avenue, who died Friday afternoon, will be buried today in Spring Hill cemetery after funeral services at 2 P. M. at the Shelton Funeral home. The Rev. Fred Smith, pastor of the Central Christian church, will officiate. In failing health for the last eight years, Mr. Carr became seriously ill about three months ago. Pallbearers will be Joe Moran, Jack Siens, Douglas Greenlee, Otto Patrick, Elmo Patrick, D. D. Carney, John Waggoner and Witcher Childers. Mr. Carr is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Bartram and Miss Bernice Carr, at home, and Mrs. W. H. Danaher of Huntington; his mother, Mrs. Mary Carr of Charleston; a brother, C. P. Carr of Charleston; three grandchildren, Margaret, Betty and Janie [sic - James] C. Bartram, and a niece, Mrs. Wesley Cromley of Dawson, Ala.
