Cassie, I just completed a research trip to Huntington, here are the places I visited and what I found regarding each of them. I would begin at the special collections at Marshall University. The easiest way to pay for copies you may wish to make is to pre-purchase a debit card at the student union. Then when you make copies, in the special collections dept, you just insert the card begin. Without the card you have to go downstairs, put in coins for each copy. Probably 4-5 dollars would be enough. I was there 3 days (in Library) and could not use all of the $10.00 on my card. Next would be KYOWVA Genealogy society, they have some info that is not at Marshall Special Collections. Marshall's will have about everything else you need. You might go through the Lambert Collection INDEX and see if any of your family surnames, or town locations, churches, etc are listed. If they are listed, worth going through the specific book, papers. Be sure and have one of the Librarians show you how to use the actual designations for each different section of the Lambert papers. It can be confusing otherwise. Of all of the places I went, which were many, the Special Collections and KYOWVA were the most helpful and had the MOST info. I had about 20 hours at Marshall, would have liked another 8-12 hours minimum. I was at KYOWVA about total of 12 hours and again would have liked about another 4-8 hours there as well. The Ladies at KYOWVA were SUPER in all respects, just meeting all of them was delightful, I am sure you will also find them to VERY helpful.....they will give you ideas on how to proceed on research in other facilities as well. Hope this helps. County Courthouse was great, but took longer then I expected, I also had to go through most of the books after records were not found. I was able to locate some of the records they had not found, spelling, or other weird reasons they were not able to find the records. They were helpful, by letting me go through the books & double check for the records they were unable to find. In all I found EVERYONE to be just wonderful and eager to assist. Good Luck on your hunting. I am going in four weeks. Would anyone have the address for the Herald and the library? I want to go to both while there and look up the newspaper articles for the Silver Bridge. Thanks EVERYONE for all you responses and help. I know you have heard this hundreds of times in emails, but everyone does appreciate all the hard work that has been put in and the responses. It helps those who are so far away. Again, thanks! Cassandra ______________________________
