Eulogies should not be confused with elegies, which are poems written in tribute to the dead; nor with obituaries, which are published biographies recounting the lives of those who have recently died; nor with obsequies, which refer generally to the rituals surrounding fun. A eulogy is a speech or writing in praise of a person or thing. So here goes: To all things there is a season. It appears that the Cabell Gen web site was born, flourished, grew old, and died on Jan 16 2008. It was a good website, full of insightful information and updated on a regular basis. The web person in charge, grew tired of the constant grind and slowly became apathetic of the needs of the genealogical community. Don't fault the web person, it happens to many good coordinators and genealogical websites fall to the wayside. In eight days will be the anniversary of Cabell's death throes. Let us morn together...... Some of the concerned tried without success to contact the state supervisor about the plight of this poor website, but could not contact him or was "put off" by him. The responsibility for it's death falls directly on him in this writer's humble opinion. There were rumors of the web site's illness month's before it's demise.
The person in charge of West Virginia web sites said to contact her with any info and she will see that it is added to the site and see what is going on. Has anyone done this. I have not but I have tried to contact the person in charge of the Cabell cty site with no results a couple times. Maybe there is a good reason for everything. We will find out in due time. These people work very hard to make our work easier so I choose to give the benefit of doubt as to the problem.
