What ever that means. Yes he did play in Bands and was once announced Fiddle playing champion of West Virginia. I met Slim only once in my lifetime while living in West Virginia and that was when I was 12 years old at a family reunion in Cabin Creek. Slim played for us a song a lot of people in that era knew "Pretty Red Wing." Slim had several bands in the 30's and 40's. He also had his own radio program. I have a copy of a letter that he received from Grandpa Jones asking him to join his group. Don't know if he did, but do know he played with several notables. He also had bands in Ashland, I'm told. I corresponded with Slim a few times prior to his death and have a few tape letters from him. A man I would love to have set and talked with, but alas, I never had the chance, so as I am, in fact conversing with one of Slim's half sisters, Ella, who lives in Michigan. I will have to tell, though I know she knows, how popular Slim was. Ernie, Thanks for writing, Larry Clere ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WVCABELL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
