    1. Re: [WVCABELL] Leadcing Creek Massacre
    2. They have put out a new book. I haven't seen it. Linda In a message dated 10/7/2008 4:37:12 P.M. Almost like "Dances With Wolves".......I have been studying as much as I can about the massacre, hoping to find the names. Any help is always much appreciated. By the way, for all that need help, I live In the Washington DC metro area, so If you need any research help, please let me know. Although I am not experienced as I am sure all of you are, I have come a long way since 1999. I know....don't ask unless you know what you're getting into. I just want to help out since I am in the area. Thanks for the info...if you have any reference to that history book that I can get here, let me know. But I suspect it will be Cabell county property as old as it is. George Wallace of Cabell County and Families says. At Pan-American exposition in Buffalo, New York, in 1901, there was an Indian Chief named Jonathan Buffington. is it possible the captive girl gave her name to her Indian children? Linda : Hello all, I have only been a member for a little while, but I have a question that has been bugging me ever since I started my Family tree. Jonathan Buffington's (s/o William Buffington) family (wife and children) were massacred on 10 April 1781 near Beverly on the Leading Creek. Other than the testimonies from the Crouch's and what history tells us.. Does anyone have the names of his family that were massacred? I also see that a daughter was kidnapped by the Indians and never seen again. Does anyone have any in depth history other than what is listed on the net? Also I have been trying to find where they were buried. After some research I have found that they might have been moved from their original spot and interred at Springhill Cemetery.
