HI! at the LDS search labs [the new site] it gives info on Vinson Smith's marriage to a CHARLOTE HALT...also listed at the WVculture.org site showing that they married in Cabell Co. WV on: 23 March 1904....although for the life of me i cannot SEE the year shown ! however, it says that Vinson Smith was born in Lawrence Co, KY and as he is age 37 on the marriage cert, that would have been in 1867... and it gives Charlotte's birth year as 1871 [in Lincoln Co. WV] as she is shown as age 33 at time of marriage !!! [i am wondering IF this could possibly be a different couple altogether? hmmmm....or did they RENEW their vows in 1904 before he died? the ages , birth places and birth years 'fit' for the record given.] but if you LOOK at her name, it could also be HALL, as it appears there is just a slip of the pen making the last 'L" into a "T"!!! and there were a LOT of Hall families in Lincoln Co. WV...but no Halts that i could find. the reason i question the marriage year is that in 1900 Central City, CABELL Co. WV census it shows: Smith, Vinson 33 KY WV WV Charlotte 32 WV WV WV Eustice E 8 WV KY WV RALPH 7....same Maud 2 Cuba 3/12..daughter and the record says they have been married 10 years having had 4 children/ all still living. so that would mean they originally (?) married in approx. 1890. then in 1910 Huntington, Cabell Co. Vincent/Vinson Smith s/o Harrison Smith and Frances Pearson. Charlotte Holton d/o Joseph Holton and Lucinda Holley. Both are in the Lincoln County 1880 census. Vinson's parents both have Holton ancestors.
