Does anyone know if there was a Thompson cemetery in Cabell,Wayne or Putban counties? I am working on James "Floyd" Thompson married to Leona Bledsoe. I can't find burial sites for either one of them. I have been told they lived in the Milton area......thanks
These Goodwins were in the vicinity of Cabell county in the mid 1830's. then both appeared in Lawrence county, Ky in the early 1840's. I am trying to locate any info on them. Were they brothers? Just joined list. Trying to find Margarite Newman B: 1924 marr Korflage. Daughter : Barbara. Father Max Newman B:1898 and Mother Ethel Rouse B: abt 1904. I understand Margarite's husband ?Korflage ran a night club in Huntington, WVA. They divorced and am sure she remarried but don't have her marr name. Margarite would be my first cousin. Charlotte , I have found almost all of the children of Willie , and Hugh "Capy" Caperton Burger. As far as I know...since Cabell was created out of Kanawha in 1809, these records would be in Cabell. Also, Marsha is right about where Guyandotte sits. It is on the east side of the Guyandotte River where it empties into the Ohio River. Still called Guyandotte today, but is really a part of Huntington legally. Before Mr. Huntington bought the land to establish the city of Huntington as the western terminus of the railroad from Richmond to what is now Huntington, WV, the two major towns in Cabell County were Guyandotte and Barboursville. Somebody correct me if I am wrong....Guyandotte sat at the spot where the Guyandotte River entered the Ohio River. Now remember that this is 1800's. Rivers would have been main thoroughfairs. The Guyandotte River would have served as a route for MANY families living as far south in what is now WV as Logan....tying them with trade on the Ohio River.
