My great-great grandfather was "Judge" Martin Heckard (1809-1877), a lawyer in Pomeroy and many of his clients were on both sides of the river from Cincinnati to Wheeling. He also was one of the early teachers at Meigs Academy in Chester. He grew up in Columbiana and Jefferson Counties and came down to Meigs County about 1832. A few years ago I compiled property owner river maps for the year 1877 following his travels up and down the Ohio River and thought now might be a good time to make them available for everyone at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moyer/Ohio-River-Maps/index.htm Please feel free to download them - they are large files - but excellent quality. They are in PDF format so you can print any section or part that you need - just save them to your computer. There's also a link on the page to another source where I found some Revolutionary War Pension Applications (original documents) for SE Ohio and West Virginia and I added an example. I stumbled on these because they were prepared by Mr. Heckard when he was a lawyer. Too bad the applicant were not our family . . . . the last name was Frasher. I hope you find the maps as useful as I have. Please feel free to pass this information along to any other mailing lists or researchers. My plans are to eventually finish the set which runs from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh as time permits. Good luck with your research. Bob Moyer

Greetings List, Remember just a few days back, I informed the list that Barry Huffstuttler had completed photographing all the monuments in the Enon Cemetery on Tyler Creek Road? Well, he has not only read, but compiled the cemetery on an Excel database and it is ready for posting on Cabell County Doors to the Past! He has worked continuously up into the late hours of the night to complete this awesome task! He needs to get a life, chuckle. Go four wheeling, dig some taters, ref a volleyball game, visit a friend, smile. If anyone finds any errors in this hastily composed endeavor, or has pictures of any of the people buried there that are not linked to their monument, e-mail him at barryh5356@hughes.net<mailto:barryh5356@hughes.net>

Sorry but I go to bed very early. My PC is in TV room and just can't stand anymore Politics.{husband} watches it all. Thank you all for your reply. RE: VA I had someone look up (paid) for Cabell Cty the obit for Max (found on SSDI) and they sent me (postal mail) the paper death obit. It mentioned he died in a VA Hospital. I googled VA hosptial in Huntington WVA and got their address (also had to fill out form on line and sign and print and sent together with a letter) ie; "....Max was my Uncle and I am looking for his daug. Could you supply me with any information on his records.... Abt week later rec'd info from their records as he must have been in and out of hosp for several years. They did not have orig med records as they had been sent to Wash DC for storage in Aug 77.(they will hold them for 73 yrs from date of retirement then they will be distroyed). However, they did have (6) 'LOCATOR CARDS' listing dates admitted from and other med info including last card of death (Oct 1974) . '. However, I don't understand if he died in Oct 1974 why they have the following listed on 2 cards only the info for 12-13-60 thru 8-22-69 . Max Newman South Point O Mrs. Charles Bartram, Daughter 2-29-96 (note 1996?) Address:3456 Woodville Drive, HTGN,WVA 525 7456 (is this a telephone no??) She was not mentioned in his obit or on any other cards. Also if you are looking for an obit ck out SSDI and get last place Soc Sec was paid. Example "Then go to google' put in "NEWSPAPER; Tampa, FL" you will get several papers. Ck them all. usually on right side of screen of 'Tampa News" you will find 'Obituaries". Note: some papers charge for info; some have listed if recent,; some have archives if within reasonable time frame. If you find 'deceased' that will give you a wealth of info.date of burial, cemetery, etc. Since we live in MS now and I do genealogy, and someone in husband's family dies, due to health I am unable to go (husband does) I found 'Daily Press' for Newport News,VA and in Menu I sent to 'desktop' and ck daily for friends. If family, I see obit (highlite just that one, copy and paste to email ...to myself) then print out obit and file. If you have questions and I can help please let me know I will try to help.
