They don't fit in to any of my families that I know of, but I've added them to my database and if I find anything else I'll let you know. Since John W. Jr was born in Wayne Co. Hi Debbie, Found Amacetta Blankenship Porter and James W. Brown's marriage record in the Archives. They were married in Wayne Co. on December 18, 1859. It lists her parents as 'Permelia Blankenship'. Not sure why it didn't list her father's name. Thanks! Lynda I attached a copy for Debbie on the email that I sent her. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie Campbell" <debra3@suddenlink.net> To: <wvcabell@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 18, 2008 9:39 PM Subject: Re: [WVCABELL] James Brown/Emmasetta Blankenship Porter > Linda I have this Amessetta as the daughter of John Plymale and unknown > mother (Being Mrs Blankenship) I was sorting out Everett Brown and his > family who has Blankenships and Eliza Bates Brown who has Blankenships in > her husbands line. OH MY GOSH!!! HELLO to both of you! My name is Lynda Logan and I'm interested in anything that says BLANKENSHIP!!! I will be more than happy to share what I know about James (I show his name as JOHN) Porter and Amacetta Blankenship. I know nothing about John Porter's parents or siblings, but they had 5 children (that I know of) 1. John Porter 2. Samuel Porter 3. Wayne Porter 4. Frances Adaline Porter 5. William W. Porter Amacetta Blankenship was the d/o Levi John Blankenship & Permilia (Blankenship) Blankenship. - Levi John was the s/o Liggon Blankenship & Frances Dillon. (can give you a list of their children if you want.) Liggon was the s/o Peter Blankenship, Sr & his 1st wife Ann Belcher. - Levi John's wife - Permilia was the oldest child & d/o Jesse Blankenship & Margaret Stafford. Jesse was the s/o Peter Blankenship, Jr and his wife Jemimah 'Jennie' Perdue. Peter, Jr was the son of Peter Blankenship Sr & his 1st wife Ann Belcher and was a brother of Liggon's. So that takes care of the 2 Blankenship lines that actually go back to the same line. Levi John & Permilia Blankenship had the following children: 1. Samuel L. Blankenship 2. Amacetta Blankenship 3. Francis Marion Blankenship 4. Matilda Jane Blankenship 5. Mary Frances Blankenship 6. Jesse Blankenship 7. William Henry Blankenship James W. Brown was born March 1829. He married Amacetta Blankenship December 18, 1859 . She was born March 1829. Children of James W. Brown and Amacetta Blankenship: i. Laban L. Brown was born 1861. ii. Louisa Jane Brown was born 1863. iii. Kitkarie 'Kitty' L. Brown was born 1864. iv. Permilia Brown was born April 30, 1865 in Beech Fork, Wayne, WV. v. Amacetta Brown was born 1867. vi. Sarah Josephine Brown was born 1869. vii. 3. Levisa Belle Brown (alias "Visa Bell Brown") was born November 7, 1871 in , Wayne, WV and died September 7, 1939 in , Wayne, WV. I see you have 1 more child than I do because of his dates, he would not have shown up in any of the census records. Thanks and feel free to contact me if you would like more on the Blankenships. (my link is through my maternal grandmother - Ruby Marie Blankenship d/o John W. Blankenship & Laura Huff. John W. was the s/o Frances Marion 'Doc' Blankenship & Margaret Crockett. My Francis Marion was the s/o John Blankenship & Sarah Stephenson. And this John was the s/o Jesse Blankenship & Margaret Stafford and was the younger brother of Permilia (who married Levi John) and was Amacetta's mother. So Amacetta & my gg-grandfather Francis Marion 'Doc' Blankenship were 1st cousins. Just noticed the meeting date on the website is incorrect... yes, the meeting is at 7pm today, November 18. The meeting is in the basement of the 2nd Presbyterian Church, 9th Street W and Jefferson Avenue. Enter on the 9th Street side of the building, toward the alley corner. Look for the KYOWVA sign. Do you know what industry or types of work that they did? Coal mining? chemical plant, glass factories, etc?
Does anyone know where if any place you can get copies of work records for deceased relatives? Would like to know where some of our people worked.
