<<Does anyone have proof that the wife of John Ball was Nancy Chapman?>> Also, three of their grandchildren married Chapmans - two being confirmed descendants of John and Jane. Tom
<<Does anyone have proof that the wife of John Ball was Nancy Chapman?>> I've always thought that the name of her son "Cadwalader" Ball was a clue, since the only other Cad in the area was her brother Cad Chapman. However, there is no proof that I know of. Oh, I forgot. There is a man named "Ball" in my DNA report, and he's only at a distance of -2 on 25 markers. But I've not corresponded with him. Tom Chapman

Joshua is the son of William Morris who married Elizabeth Stipps/Stepps/ Stapp. William was one of the earliest settlers in what is now Kanawha Co., WV and represented Kanawha in the VA Assembly shortly after the county was formed.

I have been searching for a long time to verify her maiden name and your message is the first I've seen that might lead to proof of her identity. I am a descendant of John and Jane Chapman through their son, Joseph, who married Lucy Morris. I also am a descendant of John Ball and Nancy ?, through their son, Zacheriah Ball, who married Mary Erwin. So, as you can see, I have a two-fold interest in proving the identity of Nancy who married John Ball. Thanks for your help.

Or if her maiden name was Chapman, is there any proof that she was the daughter of John Chapman and Jane Donoho? I've seen her listed as Nancy Dunn and Nancy Chapman, but I've never seen a shred of proof one way or the other. The only daughter I have in my data for John Chapman and Jane Donoho is Mary Chapman who married Andrew Jordan and lived in Cabell Co., VA. I do have a Jinny Ball, daughter of John and Nancy, born about 1811, who married George Keaton. I have no further information on them. I'm a descendant of John and Jane Chapman through their son, Joseph, who married Lucy Morris and would love to hear from anyone with more information on this family.

Just starting to really get into the family history. I am descendant of John Wesley Ball and Elizabeth Jones. (Mother's maiden name is Ball.) Looking for information about John Ball and Nancy Chapman, other than what is posted here. Has anything more been determined or located? Anything, or anyone before John Ball?
