    3. There is another Burns family (mine) from Ohio who lived in Cabell county. Dr. Alexander Clarkson Burns moved from Union Twp., Lawrence Co. OH to Cabell Co. with his wife, Diana, and four children: Orin, Adrienne, James Franklin, and Alice. Don't know the exact date of their move across the river, but they are shown in the 1900 Cabell Co. census. Burns, the spouse of Alice A. Lewis, who died on 15 May 1931, his father was J. C. Burns, born in Ohio. The mother's name is not listed. This James C. Burns is the father of the Andrew Burns who was killed on 7 June 1934 by the train. Andrews death certificate states he was killed on the bridge when struck by a passenger train. I wonder if this was the railroad bridge that crossed the Guyandotte River as someone walking across that bridge would not have any place to get out of the way of a train if one were coming. My question is, where is the Burns Cemetery in Lincoln County? I know of one Burns Cemetery, also called Jackson Cemetery, that is located where Putnam, Lincoln, and Cabell County meet. You can get there by going out Balls Branch in Culloden or Sycamore Rd. in Hurricane, WV. Several references in the Heck Funeral Home records state this Burns Cemetery as being in rural Culloden, when it's actually in Lincoln County. Is there another Burns Cemetery in Lincoln County or is Andrew buried in the one at the three county junction?

If anyone has information on this Watts line I'd very much appreciate it! I also am very willing to scan and send copies of the Theron Ball/ Rebecca Noe photograph to anyone who might like a copy. Researching the Ball line was wonderfully intriguing and I have traced them back ( with lots of help! ) to England in 1445. Wish the Watts line was that easy! Thank you for your help!

    3. Pam and Carrie, I hope I can get this information to you in a way that makes sense....I haven't had as much experience as most of you so please be patient with my lack of knowledge....I will learn....I hope!!!! SOON!! My Byas/Bias ties come from my grandfather's family....here goes My grandfather was Elonzo SAWYERS s/o Joshua Emmanuel SAWYERS s/o Joshua SAWYERS and Susan CHAPMAN. Joshua died around the time of Joshua Emmanuel's birth. A little over 3 years later Susan married Bennett BYAS 14 Aug 1853 in Putnam Co. Bennett had been married to Peggy (the 1850 census has her listed as Peggy...other peoples research have her listed as Mary/Margaret ERWIN...I have not been able to confirm this yet) The information that I have found....but have not been able to document yet...is as follows: Bennett BYAS b 02 Mar 1811, Amherst, Va s/o of Roland BYAS b. abt 1767, Amherst, Va and (2nd wife?) Nancy JENKINS. They were m. 14 Sep 1804. Roland s/o James BYAS b. abt 1722 and Elizabeth LARKIN b abt 1725 in Va. side note...Roland and Nancy had a son named Daniel. Daniel had a daughter named Ruth F. BIAS/BYAS. She was the first wife of Joshua Emmanuel SAWYERS. They had no children. Bennett had a brother named Obediah b abt 1820 in Amherst Co., Va.. Could this be the same Obediah as your's Pam? I know this isn't much and any help, insights, or suggestions you can offer would be much appreciated. SheilaM I grew up in Chesapeake but went to school in Huntington......really miss the river and the hills. I hope to be moving back in a couple of years, at least a little closer. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GCC.2ACE/3534.1 Message Board Post: Passport issued 5 October 1819 to Christoph Adam Seiz of Aszlinger in the kingdom of Wurttenberg, Germany. He home was located in South Central Germany about 1-1/2 miles from Switzerland. He landed in New Orleans in 20Jan. 1820 along with his wife, Catherine Rouf, Michael Christopher Seiz, John Seiz, Catherine Seiz & Adolpheus Seiz. How they traveled up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to Va. (W.Va.) has not been established yet. They should appear in the 1820 Census along the route. When Christoph left Germany, he was 37 years old, had green eyes, light brown hair, 1 meter, 75-80 cen. (5"10") tall and had lost his teeth, both top and bottom. He had a long face, healthy complexion, soft cheek, proportionate mouth and straight legs. His children, Michael Christ. was 8 yrs. old, John was 7 years old, Catherine was 3 yrs old, Adolphos 3 months old. He settled on 40 acres of land on nine mile creek, Cabell Co., Va. (Lincoln Co., W.Va.) to this he added 63 more acres. His! signature on his passport, and later his son becoming a school teacher, would indicate that he was an educated man. His wife, Catherine Rouf must have died shortly after arriving here in America. He later married Sarah Peyton and had additional children. During those early years, his name changed from Seiz, to Seitz, to Cites, to Sites and finally Scites. Received land grants for his property from Virginia.
