When I was at the cemetery couple years ago, it was definitely not well kept, howvever the previous year it was in very good shape. Are you saying they are again taking care of it? Ona, is the little town where the cemetery is. My Chapman kin are buried there, Tom and Louise (Payne) Chapman. They have the big heart shaped head stone when you walk in. I think the Cabell County site gives pretty good directions and listing of the folk there. Pam Zeirott

There is also a cemetery that my family has referred to as the "Stanley Cemetery" on the Mud River road in Boone County, WV. The cemetery is located very near the Boone - Lincoln County line. Several of my CAUDILL and SPERRY family members are buried there, several in the late 19-teens - 1930's era. Perhaps someone on the BOONE County line will have a listing for the cemetery? Ona is between Barboursville and Milton. Hurricane is farther east than either town. I have been trying to locate my g g g grandfather's parents, I found in Lawrence county Ky a Theophilus Goodwin in two tax years along with my Henry B Goodwin. Also my Henry B Goodiwn married Jane Billups in Cabell county W V in 1833. They were suprised to here the graves were unmarked. They did have metal name plates on most of the graves. Some of the family members are no longer able to make the hike back to the cemetery but know who is buried there and who is beside each other. They are going to help us to identify the graves. Tina, I went to the Cabell County Library today and found an article in the Herald-Dispatch Saturday, Dec. 18, 1937 Morning paper. EX-CHAUFFEUR FATALLY SHOT AFTER QUARREL. Martin Kendrick, 30, is victim; man surrenders at Drug Store. Shot three times with a .38 calibre pistol, twice in the left side and once in the back, Martin Kendrick, 30 years old of Nickel Plant addition was fatallly wounded last night at 6:50 o"clock. It happened at the intersection of Third Avenue and Second street West. Suviving in addition to the brother (Robert Kendrick of Huntington was mentioned early in article) , is the man's wife, Mrs. Ruby Kendrick; a daughter, Betty: two sons, Harold and Virgil Lee; his mother Mrs. Bertha Donohoe; all of Huntington; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hinchman, of McConnel, Logan County, and Mrs. Estille Farmer, of Huntington, and two half brothers, Luther and Eugene Donohoe of Huntington. I copies this from microfilm and can scan it to you or send through the mail. I looked through the 24 for the obit and found nothing but this article. There is other information in it.
