Allen Eckart has written a series of historical novals,that are often available even in paperback. They are reasonably accurate,and contain great footnotes for further research. His "The Frontiersman " gives a graphic account of July-Aug,1782 Col Wm Crawford's defeat. His "That Dark and Bloody River" accounts Crawford's defeat,but also other Indian warfare along the WV panhandle,where Edward Logsdon,Sr-Jr were. Dugal McQueen and George Brown[e] were adjoining neighbors at n e Westminster,mD, and John Brown and Edward Logsdon,Sr m Dugal's daughters,among others.John Sappinhton,Sr, Richard Wells,Sr,and John Baxter were Brown's sons-in-law Dugal's son, Thomas Sr,is said by someone [?] to have been killed by Indians in Nov ,1763,during Pontiac's War,in the Big Cove of mid southern,Pa,just north of Hancock,Md, Some portion of the Logsdon-Durbin-Mattingly-Sapp-Workman colony gave oaths in 1778 further west yet,neat Oldtown Md -Mt Savage,Md. Md is 1 1\2 mile wide at Hancock,Md,and WV is 6 miles wide at Harmon's Creek, Weirton-Hollidays Cove,WV. Early spring,1774,at Jousha Baker's cabin in the northern WV panhandle,the Mingo chief Logan's family was lured across the Ohio,and massacred by white men that included a Greathouse,John Sappington,and Baker's bro-in-law,Nathanial Tomlinson,and others. [ Jousha McQueen,grandson of Dugal, called Jousha Baker his "best friend" and floated to Natchez in 1780-81 with Nat Tomlinson. Chalkley's "Cronicles of the Scotch-Irish in Augusta Co,Va" has abstracts of a Va district land suit court suit re the 1773 squatting of Wm.West,Jousha McQueen,and John Sappington in Campbell's cabin at Holliday's Cove,and my George Brown,,and others,riding to their rescue. Spring,1782,after many white deaths by Indians, a whitemilitia rode from Mingo Boton into the "No Man's Zone"" between the warring tribes of Indians,in Ohio,and the white's.They rode 75-100 miles into Ohio to a village of Christian [Moravian] indians,who empty village had been used to shelter hostiles the past winter. Now reoccupied by the Christian Indians, but among them were found clothing items of whites recently killed. The Moravians were herded into ther church,and ,next am, led out,and made to kneel,and a few of the white milita walked behind them,bashing 90 plus heads. Another portionof the white militia joine a young ,white minister,at prayer while the massacre occured. Many of the same miltia,enlarged by others,joined Col Wm Crawford,in riding to defeat in late July of 1782,further west in mid-Ohio near Upper Sandusky. 1780 is the date I use for the 1st of our colony long hunting buffalo and genseng out of the 1775 Boonesboro fort in Madison Co,Ky. 1787 is the date I use for the colony moving their wifes to George Boones-Wm Hoy's fort 7 miles west of Boonesboro,Ky at Foxtown,or White Hall,Ky. Trading Hill,it was called.
