The following is a portion of a message from George Livingston, the President of the Ebenezer Zane Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution - regarding veteran graves in Brooke Co., WV. ---------- Hello all, Please pass this on to whom ever may be interested I would appreciate it. After 3PM Tuesday May 4 we will place the grave markers for Rev. War Vets. John Doddridge, Van Swearingen & George Cox in Brooke Cemetery. Bill Konkle of Brooke Cemetery is having them put in for us. I will deliver the markers and flag holders to him at the cemetery at that time. While talking to Bill a short time ago he gave me some sad news. The Wellsburg VFW & American Legion will no longer place Memorial Day flags on veterans graves in that cemetery of which there are probably about 200 from the Rev. War thru Vietnam. I guess it is a matter of money. Bill has Boy Scout Troops he can get to place the flags if he can get the flags. I have no idea how much 200 grave marking flags would cost. You have to know that this upsets me no end. I will accept any suggestions and will do what I can to help.
