Hello All Brooke County Researchers! I am new to the group. Here are a few sunames in my research. I am researching Criswells: Richard:born about 1768 in MD; lived Brooke County VA; died either in Brook County, Ohio County or Marshall County. He married Elizabeth Lane and had the following children in the same areas mentioned. > Richard > Enoch > John > Lloyd > Unity > Mary > James (my direct line) (married Temperance Potter) (son, George is my GGF) > and more Researching O'dells:. My Ggrandmother was Mary Jane O'dell who married George S. Criswell in 1870 West Alexander, PA. Mary Jane was born in 1848-49 probably in Brooke County. He father was from NY or Canada, depending on which census you believe. Her father's name may have been "J.J.". Mother unknown. Researching Potter's: Temperance Potter married James Criswell after 1850 and before 1860. Her parents were Humphry and Martha and she had a sister, Jane. Researching the surname Gossage or Gorsuch. Nicholas & Suzanne were married in MD and moved to Brooke Co., where they lived in the 1800s. These were relatives of the Richard Criswell I mentioned first.
