A local library, Schiappa in Steubenville has the same microfilm which the public can browse. Julia

Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg//FCC.2ACE/1956 Message Board Post: The John I am reffering to Married Rebecca V. Antill in 1864. Per all census I have come across (1860-1880), This family lived in Wellsburg, Brooke Co. when it was still VA. & continued to lived there after it became W. VA. I think John's parent were Andrew & Rachel Nelson. Per an 1860 census, Andrew gives his P.O.B as VA, in 1880 census, he gives it as W.VA. In 1880 census, he gives his parents born in Maryland. If anyone knows this line, please get in touch. Thank you. Heather

Thank you for your help. >Jim Schoolcraft Jim, As a suggestion, try a search on the OH Libraries' Project, "Digital Shoebox" which contains much material on both sides of the Ohio River: http://www.digitalshoebox.org/ You could do a search using the names you are seeking and if not acceptable, try an advanced search. This is a reminder to all - to never overlook resources in near counties. This Digital Shoebox collection includes the Brooke Co., Cemetery survey by Richard Roe (as well as many other area cemeteries in different counties). The Brooke cemetery is a rather large and old cemetery containing many souls. I'd like to honor Mr. Roe at this point for his extensive work. He never drove and actually walked across the bridge from Steubenville, Jefferson Co., OH to Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV and abstracted the tombstone information onto a small tablet, returned home walking (never accepting a ride by a passerby), and entered the information onto his computer. He freely shared his material with Schiappa Library and the Jefferson County Chapter, OGS. In my opinion, he is the most important enumerator and unappreciated and unknown historian of the Ohio Valley in the 1990s. Julia
