Here's a New Internet Tool for Genealogists: http://maps.google.com/ If you can't physically visit that ancestor home from the 1930 census, check it out of Google Maps. Or look for that cemetery in their old home town. Links on the right will help you navigate at Google Maps. It also conveniently supplies a "link to this page" to share the map with fellow researchers. Here's an example of Brooke's Court House at 632 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV http://maps.google.com/maps?q=632+main+street,+wellsburg,+wv&spn=0.031543,0.060176&hl=en You'll find this also helpful in vacation trips, and planning your next genealogy venture!

A picnic dinner will be held in the Community House, which is air conditioned. Following the picnic dinner, there will a white elephant auction, a basket auction, a display of family photographs and the recording of births and deaths. As in previous years, prizes will be awarded to the oldest and the youngest persons present, the person coming the farthest and the family with the most members present. A third feature will be provided by guest artist, Jay Obertance, of Toronto, Ohio, a high school student. Obertance serves as a church musician at both St. Anthony’s and St. Joseph’s churches in Toronto, and from time to time performs at the First Presbyterian Church in the same city. The fourth feature of the day, if it can be arranged, is a visit to the Atkinson Family Cemetery just off McKim Ridge Road. Prayers will be offered and appreciation given to the family’s pioneer ancestors. The Marsh, Atkinson, McKim, Morton and other related families were among the earliest settlers of Brooke County. The fifth and final part of the reunion program is the business meeting, which will include discussion of plans for next year’s reunion and election of officers. Current officers include Emily Chapman Daily of Fort Mill, SC, president; Denise Dailey Toler of Bidwell, Ohio, vice president; T. J. Burchfield of Steubenville, treasurer; and Robert W. Marsh of Wintersville, secretary. Further information can be obtained by calling either Robert Marsh at (740) 266-2188 or Burchfield at (740) 282-2156. Please send me an email at [email protected] I descend from John & Ruhama. I still haven't gotten any farther back than Old William along the Potomac. The current owner is having an archealogical dig done on an ongoing basis. He has also contacted an Historical researcher to find out more about William. There are a couple of good leads, but nothing definite yet. Dinah was a Butt, not a Darke. She was the daughter of Richard and Mary Butt. Richard died in 1715 and Mary married John Metcalf shortly thereafter. By Metcalf she had children George, Vatchel and Susan. Dinah was born in 1708. Regnal's estimated birth year is incorrect. Bob Green was estimating Regnal's birth years based on a horse ride he made on his 100th Birthday. We don't know when that Birthday was, but it could have occured anytime after 1806 and before about 1860. A more sensible time span for Regnal's birth is between 1724-1734. We know that Dinah and her Mother were in Prince Georges County Maryland and can assume that William was close by. There is a James Green in the same general area that had a son, William, but we can't find the documentation yet to tie this together. There are still other possibilities so I would hesitate to lock that one down. Regnal was married to Sarah Butt in Berkeley Co., it could have been Regnal Jr. or Sr. According to tax records, Regnal Jr. was 21 or over by 1787. We do know that Regnal Sr.'s wife was named Sarah in 1802, when he sold his property along the Potomac. Regnal was not married to Sarah Duncan. Robert Green discovered after the publication of his book, and Sarah, the sister of Matthew Duncan actually married a man named Greer. If you are interested in the book, it's on CD-Rom. Only the first several pages will be of interest to you. Again, write to my e-mail address if you are interested.

Hello all listers! I saw the Tarr posting and had to respond. My neice's middle name is Tarr and I knew that it was a family surname of her father's side of the family. I e-mailed my sister and she said that the relationship is as follows: John "Jack" Marshall is the father of my neice. His Grandfather, John Marshall, was a son of Lizze Tarr or Elizabeth Tarr and Oliver Marshall. They lived in New Cumberland, Hancock CO., WV. The grandfather, John Marshall, was assist. Attorney General of the US. They lived near D.C. in Chevy Chase, MD. Jack, the grandson & father of my neice, was City Solictor & Assistant U.S. Attorney in Wheeling, WV. He and my sister divorced in 1986. Jack now lives in Hilton Head, SC. Hope this helps someone out there. -Donna Criswell Mollaun (formerly of Wheeling)
