There is reported fighting in Boone County on September 1st of 1861. Along the Blue Creek and at the Boone County Court House there was light skirmishing between Confederates that were determined to rid the area of federal invaders and the thin ranks of union forces. There is reports of light skirmishin in Burlington Virginia as well. None of these fights amount to any major actions. However they do instill strong sentiments between those who favor staying with the union and loyal Virginians who leave to join the Confederacy.
