When you check the original marriage records for Boone County for Oliver's marriage (available on microfilm at the Cultural Center) you will see that the name in the record says Mary E. Jarrell. However, it appears that the clerk just mistakenly copied the last name from the entry above. (Remember, this was January 1 and he may have had a bad New Year's Eve.) The death certificate for Mary's daughter Mary Phebe in Kanawha County on 27 May 1943 gives her mother's name as Epling. Also Mary Epling's brother William had land transactions with Manasseh Byrnside. So the name Jarrell on the marriage record is just a mistake. I'll also be travelling to WV next week and for several weeks after that, so my reponse to message boards will be slow. Thanks for the info. Sharon Meeker, NJ

I think he was also known as James O. Byrnside. The Boone County marriage register gives his bride's name as Mary Jarrell on 1 January 1871. The information in the original register is wrong. His bride was Mary Elizabeth Epling. The name Jarrell was mistakenly repeated from the previous entry in the register. Oliver and Mary had William Oliver (1873), Mary Phoebe (1875), Carrie R. (1877), Nancy (1881) and another child who died before 1900. William, Phebe and Carrie had descendants. Nancy apparently died before 1900 and I have found no marriage or children for her. Oliver apparently died 1900-1910. Mary died after 1910. Sharon.

I received this from one of my other mailing lists. The Canadian government plans to permanently lock up or destroy all census records made after 1901. Genealogists throughout Canada and in many other countries have been fighting this plan. This week genealogists received a major setback in their efforts. For more information see: http://globalgenealogy.com/Census (in English) and at: http://globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index_f.htm (en fran=E7ais).

Did he stay in WV or go back to MT? Also, my John F. Workman had a previous wife and I do not know her name. They had John Jr., Frank, and Mary (Mary married a Hackworth). Would you happen to know her name? And did "Pappy" have any other wives? I know that Teny Ann had been married previously also. Thank you, David. I've advanced to prevacid - rolaids are history. The R.M. Belcher must be Rhoda and Mary is on the marriage list. That leaves Martha. Probably Elizabeth was born after 1870. If anyone on the list has the 1900 census, they could look up Peter Jarrell and see what info is there for you. ----------- Original Message ----------- From: Richard Carlyle Stewart <richardcarlyles@iopener.net> Sent To: Franklin47@hotmail.com, WVBOONE-L@rootsweb.c0m Subject: James Mack and Ann (Adkins) Kinder Date Sent: 20 Nov 2001 05:34 PM Hello Franklin - Ancestry.com is no help in locating Ann (Annie) Adkins Kinder's parents. She is listed as Annie Kinder on her civil war pension. She was 36 in 1870 making her born in 1834. I find the following Adkins in the 1870 census that are around her age - just the men of course: Cumberland Adkins, 47, a miner, s/o Isom Sr. and Mary (Miller) Adkins; Fredrick G. Adkins, age 43, son of Isom and Mary also; Joseph Adkins, 54, s/o Moses and Mary (Hunter) Adkins; William Adkins, 46, s/o Moses and Mary. The other Adkins men do not have info by their names. Somewhere on the web I know I've seen the 1850 Boone Co. census in indexed form. That might help if we could find it. Annie would have been 16 and maybe still with her parents. I don't have the 1900 Boone annotated census - just copies of the Stewart and Belcher pages. Annie Adkins Kinder died in 1904 it looks like. Have you all looked at the 1900 annotated census? She was a widow then as James Mack Kinder appears to have died in the 1880s. Perhaps someone on the Boone list can help you all. I'm sending this to them too. You all take care and a Happy Turkey Day. Rick Stewart --------- End Original Message ---------
