    1. Help
    2. Richard Carlyle Stewart
    3. Hello - I am looking for the parents of my gg grandmother - Rebecca BELCHER who married Elias STEWART circa 1842 in Mercer area. Rebecca was born circa 1825-1828 in Mercer, Giles, or Tazewell Cos. Elias was born 1817 to 1820. They lived in the Princeton area. In the mid-1860s Elias and Rebecca (Belcher) Stewart moved to Boone Co., WVa. There were 13 children born to Rebecca, nine of whom were living in 1900 when Rebecca died in an automobile accident in Boone Co. Other BELCHERS in Boone at the time were Micajah and Malinda Belcher, Henry and Annie Belcher, and John and Jemima Belcher and descendents who may be related. Rebecca was listed as INA BELCHER on the 1850 Mercer census along with Elias. This is an error - cause unknown. Four years later Rebecca Stewart was listed as the mother of a child (Martha Stewart) living on the 1850 census who died in 1854 in Mercer. Any help is greatly appreciated. The Price Family lived so close to the line between Logan and Kanawha Co. there might be a will there but if there is I am unaware of it. I do not research Price except I used to research the family of Tuncil Price who married Frances dau of Abraham and Mary Ballard Workman.

    3. Almira was in the Blair district of Logan Co. in 1880. She and her children were not listed on one census I've noted-can't remember the year. Eli Gore Sr. whose son married Almira's grandaughter, Bessie Mullins, took the census she is not on. I thought maybe he was doing her a favor for tax purposes by not listing the widow with two children. The Gores and Mullinses were aligned as well and lived near one another. I do believe that Almira drew a pension for Andrew Jackson Mullins' serving in the Union army - WVa 7th - Co. I. That should have some info. I know she is descended from these Boone Co. Jarrells.
