I am trying to find a marriage record for William Stribling who married Mary possibly in Berkeley Co., WV in the 1770's. I think they married prior to 1775 since their first daughter Catherine was born in 1775. Although it is possible that this marriage was really William's second because it's possible that they were married in 1780 since there is a four year gap between the second and third child. Are these early records part of the Virginia archives or WV? Also if the family was there and then wound up in Clark Co., KY, does anyone know what route they might have followed? I am tracing William from Frederick or Clarke Co. VA to Clark Co., KY. Thanks in advance. Patricia Max
Very, very few marriage bonds exist from that early. Only an occasional one. All Berkeley Co. VA marriage bonds are indexed and details are published. The bonds themselves, I believe, are at the Virginia State Library, Richmond.
