Russ, thank you. I have tried all of those trying to find it. As I said previously, the original land grant in 1749 said Augusta Co. and a will dated 1754 stated it was in Frederick Co. Due to county line changes, I thought perhaps it was in Berkeley Co. The Shenandoah begins in Berkeley Co at the Potomoc River and flows south as you pointed out. There were a number of Burk(s) in Berkeley Co and I thought perhaps it was named after one of them. Thanks again. Bea
