Hello Roger, I think I am close to gaining on those pesky Katterman in Berks County. Remember that Catherine Katterman 1781-1858 married to Sam Fetter 1777-1848 were married at Tulpehocken Trinity in 1800. I had been looking at Michael Katterman married to Elizabeth Batdorff, the son of Jacob and Anna Catherine Reith (Georg Anspach widow) Katterman. Even though the date of his daughter Catherine was 1771. I am sure she was married to Peter Bordner now. Michael died in 1781 at Washington County, MD. I did get a copy of his brother John Katterman's will. It took me a year or so to get it translated as it was German and difficult script. He married Margaret Zeller in 1778. In the will he mentions daughter Catherine as one of the first names, which makes me think she may have been born close to the marriage date, it isn't alphabetical. They lived at Stouchsburg, close to the church. Most of their children were baptized at the Christ Church of Stouchsburg. Don Moyer tells me that the Trinity Church is in sight of this one. I find on the Berks Rootsweb page that there is a Zeller cemetery across the street from Trinity and that church founders include Margaret Zeller's grandparents Heinrich and Anna Maria Briegal Zeller. Perhaps my Catherine was married in the church for this reason or that John and Margaret went to it as newlyweds until they got their own house just up the road. I find in the Zeller tree Anpsach, Batdorff, Katterman all the names I have been dancing with. I don't recall if I had mentioned any of the Jacob Katterman will information when we were emailing last year. It shows his son in law as Simon Kiesecker (misstated as Kersher on the internet) and my Catherine's son John Fetter married Simon's cousin Susannah Keesecker at West Virginia in 1828. The towns in the three counties include Brickerville, Cocalico, Stouchsburg and Schaefferstown, all quite close to each other. The Kiesecker were close to my Fetter in Warwick Twp, Lancaster County, I have heard the Zeller were near there before going to Tulpehocken. The Katterman went to Washington County, MD, where Simon and Elisabeth Katterman Kiesecker lived by his father Philip Kiesecker. Michael and Elizabeth might have lived close by too, though somebody recently said there were more Katterman there. When he died too young in 1781, I understand the widow and children went back to Berks County. I am also interested in the Pontius men in the Zeller and Katterman families. My best friend is named Pontious and he is related to the ancestors of those in Berks that I have seen in the trees on line. I do not know his 1800s forebears to connect them, but his were from Indiana and Ohio before. It would be about 8 generations for me to go back to Johann Heinrich Zeller if indeed he is my line. If you are interested in a translation of the John Katterman will of 1829 (death year), I will send it along. Best wishes, Dan Fetters Hope, MI
