I have lost some family members in Berkeley County, and wonder whether anyone has any information. John W. McCleary, Jr., married Jane Showalter Dec 4, 1820, in Berkeley County. According to a great aunt who died in 1956, John and Jane had the following children: Joseph, Jane, Tip, Holly, Augusta, Andrew, and Elizabeth. Joseph married Marinda Hess in Washington County, MD, Sep 15, 1842, and Jane married Samuel Rochester in Berkeley County on July 24, 1847. I know nothing about the other siblings, but understand that most never married. Jane and Samuel Rochester had children, but I can’t find anything on them. My line is from Joseph, my great, great grandfather, who died shortly after his marriage. His only child, John William, was born after Joseph’s death and raised by family members in Shepherdstown, WV. Not his mother, though. What became of Marinda? Besides all the missing siblings, I also have no information on the parents of the first-mentioned John William, who may have gone by William. There may also have been a brother.
