Don't forget the Berkeley County Historical Society at the Belle Boyd House, on E. Race St., they are open at least 5 days per week with a 9am -4pm schedule. Their resources are enormous and the staff is great. There are many family research files available from the files contributed by a local genealogist. They also have many local newspapers on file with antique obituary and other notices. The Courthouse has a great deal but if you go you will have to transcribe the oldest records by hand and should be aware of the fact that it must be done standing and in crowded conditions. G. Strayer
