I am researching a James Morrison supposedly from Berkley Co, VA, now West Virginia, who ended up in Louisiana in the 1790s. James Morrison was married to Anne Lyle and had children, Marie, Sarah, Ann, Nancy, Jane, and James (jr). Daughter Sarah Morrison married, 27 May 1788 James McLaughlin in Berkley Co, and also lived the remainder of her life in Louisiana. James Morrison from Virginia had a second set of children with Mary McCagg(?). (John, Elizabeth, Nancy Margaret, and Daniel) I don't know if she was from Virginia or not. However, I do know that wife, Anne Lyle and children from first marriage followed James Morrison to Louisiana where Mary McCagg and second set of children were living. Have found evidence that both sets of children interacted with each other as adults as witnesses, etc. in legal documentation. Do you have any knowledge of this James McLaughlin and wife, Sarah Morrison? I believe this James McLaughlin who lived the remainder of his life in Louisiana was the son of James McLaughlin and Margaret Christy.
