I'm looking for information on a Maria Elizabeth Spielman born 19 Dec. 1756 in Pikeland Township, Philadelphia Co. Pa. Her parents were Johann Peter Spielman and Mary Magdalena. Maria Elizabeth married George Schmid Feb 6, 1783. Peter Spielman (Speelman, Spealman) born 11 Aug. 1783 in Boonsboro Maryland and died 17 Oct. 1867 in Berkeley Springs, Morgan County, W.V. Supposedly he owned 10,000 acres in Rockgap Township, Morgan County, W Va. between Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg. Since we have a repeat of names in our family, we wonder is this Peter Spielman, Maria Elizabeth's son or brother. We are also trying to confirm the marriage between her and George Schmid. Other children of Maria Elizabeth might be Johann George Schmid born 16 Feb. 1782, Jacob Spielman (Peter's twin brother), Anna Elizabeth Spielman born 10 Sept. 1785, David Spielman born aft June 1786 and Solomon Spielman born 1788. Some say Maria Elizabeth might have been a woman of the street, from the number of her children and they're date of birth, no way. She may have been a kept woman or she may have remarried, even marrying another Spielman. If we can find information on Peter Spielman, that may solve all of our problems.
