I am looking for a COCHRAN family who lived in Berkeley Co., Virginia in 1807. This is what I know about the family: George W. Cochran, Sr. was reportedly born in Virginia (he was "from the Old Dominion" acording to his descendants). He may have been born 1770 - 1780. His daughter Sarah was born 02/October/1799 in Virginia. His son George Jr. was born 07/August/1807 in Berkeley Co., Virginia. He was supposedly in the war of 1812-1815 between Britian and the U.S., but I have found no record of this. His daughter Nancy was born 1811-1812 in Pickaway Co., Ohio. His son Nathan was born about 1815 in Holmes County, Ohio. In my search I found this family (see my notes after the data): 1810 Census, Age ranges in household: 10300-5011100 This indicates tat the household had 1 male under the age of 10 (born 1800-1810) and 3 males aged 16 - 25 (born 1794-1785). There were 5 females under the age of 10 (born 1088-1810), 1 aged 16-25 (born 1794-1785), 1 aged 26-44 (born 1766-1784) and a last female aged 45 and over (born before 1765). It is possible that George lived with his brothers (?) and mother (?). The boy born 1800-1810 could be his 3 year old son, the female born 1794-1785 could be his wife, sister or even a sister-in-law. George's children always refered to his wife, Mary Sunderland, as their mother. Recently I found marriage data indicating that their marriage did not take place until he arrived in Ohio and his youngest son was a teenager. History of Allen County, Ohio, (Chicago: Wamer i.e. Warner, Beers & Co., 1885, 810 pgs), Page #255, 1836, January: George W. Cochran to Mary Sunderland; by Benjamin F. Cochran, J.P.. Does anyone know who this family in the 1810 census was? Is this *my* George or not? Has anyone come across data about this family? Any and all assistance would be appreciated. Can anyone identify the Cochran family living in Berkeley County when George Jr. was born? Terri Rene DaVar-Howard [email protected]
