Does anyone know anything about John Mendenhall (and his children) and where his land was ca 1756? Did he have a fortified home called Fort Mendenhall? My ancestor, Job Curtis, guided a militia party 25 miles "from Mendenhalls to (Slospy/Stespy/Hosfey/or???) Creek" in 1756. The creek - which I would like to identify - was probably out of what is now Berkeley County. Job Curtis named James Mendenhall his executor in his will of 1804. Ruth Dunlap
