    2. Don & Pam
    3. Looking for ancestors of GGGrandfather Jacob Carper. Married Maria Roney 14 Aug 1849 in Berkeley Co. Found them in the 1860 & 1870 census in Martinsburg. The children left for Ohio without parents between 1870 and 1880. Jacob was around because after my Great grandfather had a few children up in Ohio- he wanted him to send them south to him. This didnt happen. I dont know if Maria died or they divorced. Am really at a brick wall with this. My great-grandfather's death certificate in Ohio states mother- unknown. This is odd. I feel that someone in the family had to be up in Ohio previously because these children were at a wide variety of ages upon leaving WVA. Does any of this ring a bell?? 1. [WVBERKEL] bounced messages - information on Excite and home.com
    2. marilynandmonty
    3. BlankThis message is for information only since some members may not be aware that some high-speed internet subscribers have lost their e-mail access. Please excuse duplicate postings to different lists. [email protected] was the high-speed internet provider to about 4 million subscribers, including 850,000 on AT&T. A federal judge allowed Excite to "pull the plug" midnight Saturday if it couldn't negotiate with cable providers, such as Cox, Comcast and AT&T. Excite and AT&T negotiations broke down and AT&T stopped its service early Saturday. According to an article available at the URL listed below, AT&T is slowly restoring internet and e-mail service to its customers. However, if you have sent or are sending messages to anyone with home.com in their address and your messages bounce back, your recipient may be a victim of this. Some of us have yet to lose service, though we could any minute if our providers cannot continue to negotiate with EXCITE. http://home-news.excite.com/news/ap/011201/20/tech-excite-internet-access It's been so quiet on these lists, I figured a lot of the members may have been affected. For the rest of us, I am hoping this message will help us understand why we may have temporarily "lost" members! Marilyn G. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. [WVBERKEL] Pollock/Massey/Ellis/Engle/Ware/Keffer
    2. I am searching for any information on James Turbitt Pollock b 1791 and /or his uncle by the same name who died in 1791. The family seems to have been in the Shepherdstown area. James married a Sarah MASSEY. His sister married Sarah's brother Joseph Massey. Sarah (maybe Joseph too) was a ward of their uncle Joseph G. Massey. All three men were blacksmith's by trade. Presbyterians by faith. One source has it that James Turbitt Pollock was reared by an uncle as his parents died young. I only have the one paternal uncle in my records. Was there another paternal uncle (father = Thomas Pollock of Rev. War)? Was it an uncle from his mother's side (mother = Mary Ellis) How did his parents die? DAR records show they died in 1800 m/1803 f. Other sisters married into the ENGLE line, one into the WARE line and a brother into the KEFFER line. Any help appreciated. NOTE: One source says James' mother's ELLIS line was out of the LEE line of VA but nothing proven that I know of. thanks Pam
