    1. [WVBERKEL] Re: Marr. of Sarah Stephenson & James Kennedy 1792 Berkeley, WVA
    2. Mille H H Emmitt
    3. Is anyone searching the James Kennedy's family of 1792? He married a Sarah Stephenson in Berkeley then. I would like to know their children or anything else about them. My brick wall is Sarah Stephenson. The one I am seeking was the daughter of James & Elizabeth "Betty" Stephenson/Stevenson/Stinson from Fauquier, Va. Any help would be appreciated. Mille

    3. Very, very few marriage bonds exist from that early. Only an occasional one. All Berkeley Co. VA marriage bonds are indexed and details are published. The bonds themselves, I believe, are at the Virginia State Library, Richmond. 1. Re: [WVBERKEL] marriage records
    2. Patricia, The dates you mentioned appear to be too early for Guy Keesecker's Marriage Records of Berkeley Co., VA 1781-1854 but I though I would pass along the listings for the Stribling surname as there were only four: Stribling, Cornelius m. Riddle, Eliz. - Sept. 15, 1853 - minister - W. B. Dutton Stribling, Dulcebella W. m. Beeson, Edw. - Sept. 18, 1817 - minister - John P. Hoge (suretor - John Strother) Stribling, Taliafero m. Tate, Polly - Jan. 17, 1814 (date of bond) - no minister listed (suretor - Robert Wilson) Stribling, Wm. m. Humphrey, Sally - Apr. 23, 1789 (date of bond) - no minister listed (suretor - Arch'd Ellis) (Archibald) A good piece of advice for their migration trail into Kentucky would be the genealogy reference book "Ancestry's Guide to Research", Case Studies in American Genealogy by Johni Cerny & Arlene Eakle. This book shows approximately 12 pages of "internal" migration routes listing early canals, turnpikes (not today's turnpikes!) and primary migration roads. A lot of folks don't realize how important this little book is to their research! 3. I am trying to find a marriage record for William Stribling who married Mary possibly in Berkeley Co., WV in the 1770's. I think they married prior to 1775 since their first daughter Catherine was born in 1775. Although it is possible that this marriage was really William's second because it's possible that they were married in 1780 since there is a four year gap between the second and third child. Are these early records part of the Virginia archives or WV? Also if the family was there and then wound up in Clark Co., KY, does anyone know what route they might have followed? I am tracing William from Frederick or Clarke Co. VA to Clark Co., KY. Thanks in advance. Patricia Max

    1. [WVBERKEL] Payne, Zuber-Suver, Montgomery
    2. Dean Geiss
    3. I'm new to the list and thought that I'd inquire about some of the families that I'm researching. I'm interested in the Payne, Zuber/Suver, and Montgomery families of Berkeley Co., WVA and Old Frederick Co., VA. I descend from George Payne and Rachel Cowgill , thru son Henry and Mary Kurtz Payne, through daughter, Sarah Payne, who married Robert Montgomery in Berkeley Co. on 09 December 1801. Robert and Sarah Paye Montgomery's son, William Fletcher married Amelia Suver (Zuber), daughter of Johannes Zuber (John Suver) and Mary Catherine Hehn, who were in Berkeley C., W VA on 30 Nov 1809 when they purchased land on Mill Creek. I would be interested in sharing data with descendents or other interested parties. Carol Geiss
