As a favor to Gib, I went to the Doddridge Courthouse and did some look ups. I relayed the information to Gib that Elmore had been married twice. Once to Phebe then to Eliza Victory GREATHOUSE and I was not sure which marriage came first. I have since came to believe there has to be 2 Elmore REED;s. Phebe Reed married Elmore [Elmer] Vincent REED, [age 21] 29 April 1880, in Doddridge County. Elmore was born 1859 in Tyler County, son of Marcus Reed and Elizabeth Reed. Elmore REED [age 24] married Eliza Victory GREATHOUSE, 9 November 1882. The marriage license names the place of ceremony as, " the home of Rebecca REED" There are children on record in Doddridge County as being born to Elmore and Phebe REED and Elmore and Eliza REED in the same time frame. Delila REED, 3 February 1855, is the first REED birth, on record, in Doddridge County. Parents are Josiah REED and Mary REED. 19 July 1887, Docidilla REED, born to Elmore and Phoebe REED. 3 June 1888, Mary Jane REED, born to Elmer V. REED and Eliza V. REED. 17 April 1889, David Morgan REED, born to Ellmore [as spelled on birth certificate] REED and Phebe REED. 19 December 1890, Melissa M. REED, born to Elmore REED and Eliza V. REED. I have noticed there is misinformation in some things being posted concerning the REED family. The marriage for Andrew REED, 17 August 1871, was posted as Virginia SNIDER. He married Jane M. Gray on that date. Jane GRAY and Rebecca GRAY, Melvin Reed's wife, were sisters. Melvin REED and Rebecca GRAY were married on 8 October 1874.
