Don, My family line includes some POLINGs who lived, at least for a time, in Barbour Co, near Phillipi. Phebe Poling (b. 1810 in [now] Barbour Co] married Joseph SHAW about 1833, but they promptly moved to Fairfield Co OH along with (or following) several of Phebe's brothers or cousins: (at least: Richard, Benjamin, & Samuel Poling). Phebe, apparently, was the oldest child of Martin B Poling and Mary Wilson. Any connection? Bert Shaw
