    3. I did not see your earlier message until reading this one. The Easter family in Randolph was often referred to as Oaster and Oster. Most had moved away before 1850. The pronunciation of the first syllable was probably strange to many ears because it is likely the Ö which approaches an "e" of English. French has a similar sound, but we English speakers have much trouble with it. You may also find this name as Oyster in eastern Pennsylvania records. And regarding the Pullin. This evening was was browsing Broderbund CD 29 Family 636 and found a marriage of a Pullin in what may be Highland Co., (then Bath), VA. It will not be very readible here, but for what it is worth: - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- Descendants of Mathias Benston Generation No. 1 1. Thought this might be of interest to anyone working on the P*ll*n variants of P*l*ng. Cannot be sure if Loftus and John Pullin were in Maryland or Highland Co., VA. Two brothers of this Benson family who married daughters of James Trimble, and their brother John Trimble, whose wife was either a Waybright or an Arbogast -- perhaps both -- came to Elk Dist. Barbour Co. from Highland, VA. Perhaps a Pullin also (or a Samuel whose mother was a Pullin)?
