Dear Aaron: I sure hope you can help me with these families. Here is what we have: We have, what we think, are three Righman brothers; Jesse, Daniel and Levi who were in Barbour Co, VA/WV, probably about 1840 or so. Jesse was born ca1823; Levi born ca 1824 and Daniel , ca1822. Jesse Righman stayed in Barbour and died in an accident in 1878.His death record says he was born in Hardy Co, VA/WV. He married a Stemple. Levi Righman was in Barbour Co in 1850, Taylor Co, WV in 1870.He married a Nestor. He is buried in Franklin Co, NE. I have not been able to find Daniel Righman b ca1822 in Barbour Co records. He died in 1899 in Bumont, Butler Co, Iowa. The obit says he was born in Nestorsville, WV. This is where Jesse lived. We know that Jesse was definately a brother to Daniel. Now for Hardy Co connection: The 1850 census for Hardy Co, VA/WV lists a Daniel Righman 53, wife Lydia, children; Peter, Henry, Ann, Abraham, Magdaline, Susanna, Barbara, and George M.Living nearby are Barbara Richman 35, Henry 17. Also nearby are; Levi Richman 26 and wife Eve 22. THIS DANIEL LOOKS LIKE A POSSIBLE FATHER FOR THE THREE BOYS, Daniel, Levi and Jesse. He could be an uncle. Now,,,,about Hershman...A lady who currently lives in Nestorsville, Louise Righman, has done some work on the family and says that Jesse Righman, her husband's ancestor, was raised by the Dr. Abraham Hershman, b 1813, who went from Hardy to Barbour Co about 1840 , about the time I think the Righmans did. Dr. Hershman is not really old enough to have taken in young Righman boys, so, perhaps one or more of them just lived with him and his wife. Or, I notice that a number of Hisghman families lived near the senior Daniel Righman in 1850 in Hardy. Perhaps one or more of the Righman boys had been living with the parents of Dr. Hershman in Hardy. I have the book FOOTSTEPS OF OUR FATHERS, TACY, WV by Coffman and Stemple and several other books on Barbour Co, including census and marriage, death records. So, that is where I am in this research I am doing for a lady in CA. He husband is a Righman, descendant of Daniel Righman. I do not charge for my help, I have lots of families in Barbour and have worked with a lot of names there; Cole, Corder, Lough, Patton, Ingram, Hudkins, Euritt and many more. I have kind of adopted the Barbour area and try to learn all I can. I live about 35 minutes from Nestorsville in Bridgeport, WV.
