Hi Peggy, Kasson still exists and I found it on route 92, it is in the northeastern corner of Barbour County near the borders of Preston and Tucker counties. I found a reference to John Saylor in the Hu Maxwell "History of Barbour County" : "The Minears, and their descendants, became related with many of the people, not only of Tucker County, but of Barbour also. Of John Minear's children, Mary Ann married John Saylor in 1795. He is supposed to have perished in the woods while hunting. A small stream near St. George, where he was last seen alive, is still known as Saylor's Run." I also found two early Harrison Co. marriages of Saylors: David Minear & Catherine Sailor 24 Apr 1787 Frederick Saylor & Barbara Strader 8 Mar 1791 There were no official records of birth kept in VA/WV until 1853. Do you know the origins of the Saylor family? My Reger family which left Basel, Switzerland in 1737 has Seilor connections there.
