    3. Found another little item today during random wandering that probably relates to the Aaron Duckworth, father of the early Henry Duckworth of Barbour County. In C. Tatterson's "Poling/Poland Family" there is quoted a deed of Peter Poland (and wife Hannah who was unable to travel from Randolph County -- probably Brushy Fork of Teter's Creek -- to Harrison to sign the deed) to an Aaron Duckworth. My quick reading suggests that Peter Poland and Aaron Duckworth had jointly puchased a tract in Harrison County on Elk Creek. This deed apparently was transferring Peter's interest (Peter as resident of Randolph County) to Aaron Duckworth (whose residence was not specified). Within the deed there was a reference to Allegheny county, Maryland, quite possible where Henry lived before coming to (now) Barbour county. Since most (all?) of Henry's children were born in Maryland, this would appear to be one of those common early absentee purchases for later use or as a simple investment. This location is not where Henry, William and George were living in 1850. In 1805 the younger Aaron Duckworth (of Henry) either was not yet born or was too young to be purchasing property. We do not know yet if Henry had a brother who might have been an early traveler to Elk Creek. Nick Sturm
