I recently learned a bit more about my family and would like to share it with those who may be researching the Skidmore line and also to see if anyone can share with me any information they may have. My GGrandfather, George Skidmore married Senia Virginia Sigley on April 24, 1889, in Preston County, WV. The marriage record shows he was 26 and Senia was 23. He was born in Barbour County, WV and she in Preston County. George died by accidental death in Fellowsville, WV in August, 1926. His exact day of death was not known. In the Barbour County 1880 Census, I found Margaret Skidmore age 58, with several children including: Jacob, 37 Wilkey, 23 Saul, 21 George, 17 (Possibly my GGrandfather) May, 18 and Anna, 15. Considering the age on the marriage record, the George could be my GGrandfather. Anyone having information to share, please do so. Also, I found some old photos and added them to my web page. Jim, I have some of your names, EDMOND (EDMAN), FISHER, and GOFF. My families with these names were more in Pendleton and Tucker before moving to now central WV, Lewis, Gilmer & Calhoun. I've researched 10,000 descendants of Thomas BARTLETT (c1730-1806) who lived in Harrison Co 1785-1806, with many of his children, including eldest son William who lived near Simpson. Which Armstrong line are you working on? The reason I ask is that I copied about 4 deeds while I was there that do not belong to my line. I'm still trying to get back another generation and it was easier to copy suspect things and bring them home rather than spend all day trying to figure them out. The deeds that I have are for property that was owned by John and Mary Armstrong and most of the deeds are giving land to their son Stephen, either from them, or from others who inherited the property from John & Mary and then selling it to Stephen.
