    3. I saw this book for sale at eBay and thought someone on the list might be interested. I have a copy and have found it very helpful. Curt To bid on this item, go to: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320698665 Item Description: Barbour Co West Virginia; Book of Deaths 1853-1919; Will Books 1 & 1½ 1839-1889 by Mary S. Coffman; c. 1994, 1994 yellow softcover in excellent condition, 281 indexed pages. Per publisher.... "A collection of abstracts. Most of the people listed as dying in the county were born there as well, although many were born in nearby counties or in the state of Virginia. Death records give the name of the deceased, date of death, cause of death, age, parents, place of birth, spouse, and name of person reporting death; they are arranged chronologically by year of death. The abstracted wills give the relationship to the decedent (when given), including witnesses, executors and significant bequests; they are arranged chronologically by year of probate." 2. Robert M. Hershman
    3. I am looking for someone who knows about the early Thompson family in Barbour Co. I am decendant of William Thompson via John Mitchell. Here are a few pieces I have. Hardesy's Biographical Atlas Vol 4 gives the first two settlers of Mitchell's Run/Taylor's Drain as Henry Thompson and Jesse Terrell about 1780. What relationship did Henry have to William??? I have that 1802 John Mitchell bought 400 acres from William Thompson his father-in-law. Three miles down the valley river from the mouth of Fox Grape Run (Mitchell's Run). October 1807 Henry Farence and Ann (Allday) purchased 88 acres from James and Elizabeth Thompson, of Hampshire Co VA, for $176.00 on the right hand fork of Grape Fox Creek (near Ada ??) part of 400 acres patented to the said Thompson July 12 1787 adjoining William Thompson. One of the witnesses was Aaron Thompson. How do all these Thompson's tie togeather or do they??? How much land did William Thompson own ?? Bob Hershman, College Place, WA

If anyone has a copy of this History I would like to know the exact quote and if there is any reference for this statement. We know that Solomon came from NJ and there is much circumstancial information that John and Solomon may have been brothers as well as brothers-in-law. Bob Hershman, College Place, wA

    1. Re: Grasselli Chemical Co.
    2. Grasselli Chemical Co was located in Anmoore, Harrison Co. WV [1903-1927] where the UCAR [was National Carbon Co.] plant is now. Anmoore was known as Grasselli until it was incorporated as Anmoore Nov 13, 1950. I do not remember what they manufactured at Grasselli Chemical Co. My grandfather worked there and my father as a youth was water boy there in summer, probably around 1918. Maybe pipelines for natural gas for the plant? Nancy Gibson Barr

    2. Hello List, I just found a deed for Nathan JENKINS who entered an agreement with a GRASSELLI CHEMICAL COMPANY. The date is June 1926, and it is for land in Overfield, Barbour Co. Does anyone know what type of company this was, they never did anything with the land, that I know of. It states something about pipe lines. I am new to researching and most of this is Greek to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Denise [email protected]

    2. Robert M. Hershman
    3. Thank you for your help. I suspect that this James Kelley is the son of Isaac Kelley the twin brother of John L. Kelley. I have been in contact with an Ohio researcher who believe that Isaac was also the father of John P. Kelley born Randolph about the same time. There were a few non-trbal Kelleys who drifted through Barbour Co for the most part from Frederick Co MD. However, since most of the Kelley clan that migrated from Barbour to Calhoun and Gilmer Counties were decendants of Ebenezer I am even more certain that this James was the son of Isaac. Could not have been John L's son(as some researchers have suggested) since John later had a son James L. B. Kelley. 3. Bob, I have James and Lucinda Kelley in my files, but I didn't find a marriage for them in either Barbour, or Randolph, where James was born, nor in Harrison, where Lucinda was born.. Neither did I find the parents. They were enumerated in Barbour Co., in 1850, where 3 children were born, but by 1860, they had moved to Calhoun Co., where 5 more children were born. They were living in Sherman District of Calhoun in 1860 and 1870. Lucinda must have died sometime after the 1870 census, as James remarried in 1878 in Calhoun Co., to a Sarah Bourne. James and Sarah were enumerated in Sherman District of Calhoun Co., in 1880. but none of the children were still in the household. I did not find him after 1880, but in 1900, there was a Sarah Kelley, widow, listed as a lodger in the household of Alfred Yeager in Lee Dist., of Calhoun Co. I have some information on the children if you want it, but it will have to wait a few days. I must do some notes from Calhoun for another researcher, who has been very patient.
