    3. ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- From: "Gary Kruse" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: Can you help me. Date: Sun, 14 May 2000 22:10:15 -0500 My mother, Vivian Zinn, is from Philippi and I am planning a trip there this summer to try and jog some of her memories before she loses them all. She recently turned 80 and is having more and more difficulty remembering things. I am also new to geneaology and would like to dig up as much source material as I can while I am there. Can you tell me where I would go and who I should see for wills, property records and maybe even newspapers. My uncle Elmer Zinn says that he was the editor of the Barbour Democrat for the year 1936 and I would love to get a copy of a paper from that year listing him as the Editor. Any help you could give me or any referrals you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Gary Kruse

    1. CALLIHAN m. DOUGLASS in Harrison co.
    2. Hello to all listers, I apologize if some get this message several times, I sent this to a few list. I need help in what might be a break in a wall. Does anyone have any information on a William CALLIHAN who married Ann DOUGLASS on 12 Oct 1838 {from Harrison Co. Marriages 1785-1894, Wes Cochran, pg. 89} Ann DOUGLASS might be the daughter of Levi DOUGLASS and Nancy HAILEY DOUGLASS. {her brother might be John m. Elizabeth Lance is one of my ancestors.} There is a William CALLIHAN in the 1840 census for Harrison Co. Listed also is William W. R. CALLIHAN and John CALLIHAN. I have been looking for the father of William Frances CALLIHAN, born 1841, he is the grandson of William W.R. CALLIHAN. Somehow or some where his parents disappeared before 1850. William F. is enum. with W.W.R.CALLIHAN in Barbour Co. 1850 census, and is named in W.W.R.'s will as grandson of W.W.R., and son of William. I am sorry if this is confusing, there are just to many Williams. If any one has insight into this who's who I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you all in advance, Denise Knight [email protected]

    3. Hello listers, The first thing I want to do is to thank Curt Malone for telling us about the Barbour County books he found listed at eBay. Then, big thanks to Bridgette Osz for telling us where to buy the books! Check the listings of genealogy and history societies, book dealers and publishers immediately when you see a book offered at auction. If the book is available new from someone else, it will help you make a reasonable bid 8-) There are a few publishers and dealers listed on the Barbour County Genealogy web page, please let me know about new ones that we could add to the list. It is good news to hear that Linda Fluharty will be sharing her vintage material. Thanks! I appreciate your effort and generosity. 3. As a Barbour county amateur Genealogist I would like to: Thanks for your efforts to stop the misuse of rare books. I feel the books should be made available to the public at a reasonable price. After all the information is PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. This is why so many books are photocopied without permission or illegally. The trend now is to publish Genealogy on CD discs because it can be done cheaply in your own home. Again thanks for your efforts. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, 02 May, 2000 9:58 PM Subject: Re: Barbour book at eBay >Curt: > >So true! 3. When I originally posted this announcement, it was selling for about $19.00, 20% under the cost of a new book. Incredibly, this used book just sold for $76.00, 300% of the cost of a new one, while it's still in print. Go figure . . . We've learned one thing, we all know how to recoup our investment in genealogy books :-) Curt ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bridgette Osz" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2000 2:54 PM Subject: Re: Barbour book at eBay I have this book, It is great but bid is now up to 61.00 IT is still available via http://www.heritagebooks.com 24.50 shipping right now is free if you order online Curt Malone wrote: > > I saw this book for sale at eBay and thought someone on the list might be > interested. > I have a copy and have found it very helpful.
