Paula, I just subscribed to this list yesterday and I think I have some info on Alta Williams and Samuel Nash. I hope this reply is correct procedure as this is the first time I have done so. Let me point out that I am leaving Maryland in the morning to go to NC to help my flooded-out sister for a number of days. What a tragedy in eastern NC. I will get back to you with more details when I get back or possibly reply on my sister's computer if we can get on line and if we have time. I think this Nash family is the one that moved to Richwood, WV in the early 40's with the paper mill to Plymouth, NC. Sammy Nash was my father's best friend and they worked and pall'ed around for many years in Richwood and in Pymouth. Sammy and Alta had several children, Doris, Skip, Jerry, Hugh and one more I forget. They lived within 100 yards of us. I went to school with Hugh and Jerry and even worked for Sammy and the one I forget at the paper mill for a short time. Some of the Nash's are still living in Plymouth I think. Sammy was unfortunately killed in an auto crash in Plymouth about 1962. He was taken to the hospital with a male passenger. My sister, a nurse, saw them coming in and thought the male passenger was our dad. She was really shaken. Fortunately for us it was not our dad, but Sammy was dead. I think he was buried there in Plymouth. I do not remember when Alta died, but I will get more details from my sister, Mom and Dad who are still living and get back to you. I know how wonderful it is to get info like this to a request, so appreciate your holding on for a few days until I both confirm that these are the same people and get back from my trip. If in the meantime you want to reply, feel free to do so.
