My BUTLER Family. Could someone help?? My Great-grandfathers name was: William Mathew BUTLER Born - March 3, 1885 - Calhoun County, West Virginia Died - September 28, 1976 - Richwood or Wood County, West Virginia His parents names were: John B. BUTLER Born - September 22, 1853 Braxton County, West Virginia Died - June 6, 1908 ? HE MARRIED : (May 13, 1876 - Roane County, West Virginia) Margaret Naomi MAY Born - February 22, 1858 Calhoun County, West Virginia Died - February 10, 1925 ? We do have some family information listing that "Dovotha" as John B. Butler mother. And at one time Dovotha was married to Isaac FLENNER. (2nd marriage?) John B. BUTLER is my brick wall. Several wonderful people on different News Groups have discovered new information that I am almost positive must connect to my family. "Who John B. Butler's parents were is still in question." My cousins and I have not been able to positively answer this question. Here is where I ask for help. I will post the information that was sent to me below. I appreciate any help anyone could offer. VA m. James Justice, 22, b. Kan. Co 10-28-1869 Roane Mary S. TOLIFER 6 b. VA Thomas R. TOLIFER 4 b. VA Mary E. Salsbury 1/12 VA When Mary Butler, 18, b. Clay Co. married Annias Truman, 25, b. Roane Co. 04-22-1876 in Calhoun Co. the parents for Annias was Silas and Barbara, and Mary's was given as Oliver and Dorotha. That is the only time I have seen who may be your Dorotha. There was only one Oliver in the area and that was Oliver Butler s/o Jeremiah and Margaret (Chapman) Butler (Dorotha and Oliver were probably 1st cousins) a few doors down the road from Benjamin and Alice. When Rebecca J. married her parents is listed as Benjamin and Alice. John B. Butler in 1880 Calhoun Co. was living beside his father (?) Benjamin.
