    1. [WVA] Battle of Point Pleasant

    3. Mike, I am also quite interested in this battle as my Clendenins took part in it as well. I own a book called The Great Kanawha by William D. Wintz that has a very nice and easy to follow narrative of the battle on pp 21-25. Much of it is take from a journal written by COlonel Fleming and John Todd used for orderly purposes ( I am not sure that I understand what that means). I have also taken some photos of the park that is on the battle site that I would be glad to share if you are not close to Point Pleasant. I have not read Livia Nye Simpson-Poffenbarger's book and will try to take a look at it after the holidays. I have access to the Draper Manuscripts on microfilm at Marshall University and I feel sure that there are many interviews dealing with this event. I have mainly used The Draper Manuscripts in my research of the Clendeniin Massacre in 1763 in Greenbrier County. I will try to make a point at some time to take a look at the interviews pertaining to this battle. So many things that I want to do---so little time..Good luck on your Clays....Are you related to the Henry Clay (1777-1852) of Ky. who served as a great American Statesman for nearly 50 years. I would surely be excited to be related to him. Everyplace I look someone in his time period is bragging that he slept in their home on his way back and forth to DC. And I found some infomation about time that he spent at WHite Sulpur Springs in Greenbrier County. .marsha in WV NPeters102@aol.com wrote: > > Recently perused the list of participants in the Revolutionary War's 1st > skirmish -- the Battle of Point Pleasant.
