Joan, There could be several reasons for this. My father isn't listed either and that is because he worked for the railroad and received his pension from them. Also, if when the person you are looking for died and his survivor did not file for the social security death benefit then social security would have no record of them. In my case, my father was under the Soc. sec. system when he was younger but after he went to work for the railroad, he was under their pension plan and was not included under the Soc. sec. plan. And my mother didn't file for the death benefit because she forgot to. Pat in Va.
