Hello all, Looking for any and all suggestions. My ggm, Margaret Elmira Nicol/Nichol, b. in the 1860's, was the daughter of a woman named Hicks from WV, (who supposedly died several days after childbirth) and a man named Nicol/Nichol (possibly John) from "down south"-possibly GA. Family stories sketchy, vague and variable for unknown reasons. Margaret was either born in NJ or brought here at an unknown age by her father who was supposedly a CW soldier. He was (supposedly) either killed in battle, executed as a spy for the north or died during the war. Margaret was raised in the Morris County NJ area by an unknown family (possibly Vanderhoofs or Jeffreys), m. William J. Ayres prior to 1886 and had children: Lovdy Madge; Clara; Mulford William; Hazel; Ivan Therle or Thurwood.;Harriet Elmira; Mildred Amelia; Robert Jackson; Merle Elizabeth; Nelson Joseph. The only, albeit remote, possibility of making a family connection is the fact that Margaret, William and children used to visit he! r family, including a cousin named Louise (?Hicks) in Moundsville and possibly Wheeling in the early 1900's. Does anything seem to "fit in" with anyone out there?
