    3. Elaine, Apparently you are subscribed to the WVA mail list. If you are, you will get every email that is sent to the list. If you don't want to receive the emails, you can unsubscribe to the email at WVA-L-request@rootsweb.com in the subject line type unsubscribe and it will take your name off the list. If you want to stay on the list, you might want to subscribe to the digest mode. Those who are on the list receive a copy of all email letters. That way, if anyone has any information, they can submit it to the person or the list. Hope this helps. Juanita

    1. [WVA] Listowner Message..protect your computer
    2. KEE46
    3. I am breaking one of my own rules to send this message to the public list. I do this because of concern for your computer privacy. I wanted each of you to be protected from computer hackers through the use of this FREE utility. I am using it on my computer and know that it is FREE. There are no hidden costs or gimmicks. If you are not interested, disregard the message and hit your delete key. Sometimes things come along that must be shared for the good of all of us. This came to me from another list from Sgt.George. Adrianne Listowner ============================ "I also downloaded a free program to set up an "ersatz firewall" on the PC, which will stop ALL attempts at hacking from others. I am rushed for time right now, but tomorrow will send the URL for the free check of users' systems, and the URL for downloading the free program." Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Here's the URL for the utility: http://www.zonelabs.com ZoneAlarm is an Internet security utility and firewall that detects all Internet access on your computer and controls which programs have access to the Internet. Version 2.0.26 combines many improvements to ZoneAlarm's capabilities and usability, including a complete local firewall with easy-to-use security level settings and advanced local and Internet zone capabilities. ZoneAlarm works with most types of TCP/IP connections, including Ethernet LAN, DSL, cable modem and dial-up connections. Basically, what ZoneAlarm does is this: If it is running when you connect to the Internet/Web, via Netscape, MSIE, Eudora, MS Outlook, etc., AND if a remote computer tries to access your computer to look for data or to place something on your system, ZoneAlarm, if already set properly, will deny such access if you have configured No Access, or will ask you what to do if you have configured it to do this. It takes up very little RAM and Resources. You might run it for weeks before you get the first attempt by a remote computer to access your system; on the other hand, it might be the next time you use your web browser. You just never know. Better save than sorry! SgtGeorge ______________________________

    1. Re: [WVA] Diana, WV
    2. Diana WV is a small hamlet, very pretty place, not too far off I79 (get off at FLATWOOD WV) Sutton Lake is nearby, however Diana is past there, going towards Hacker Valley and a beautiful state park called Holly River State Park, camping and cabins are available there. Good fishing, good hunting, in this area, lots of history as well, many families living in the area there for generations, one family comes to mind is the Cogars.

    2. Faith Blount
    3. Hello, I am wondering if anyone has any good sites regarding W.W.I or any lists. I am searching for information regarding my Great Uncle William Sylvester ARTHUR. I have a copy of a photograph that I received today which has him wearing an uniform with the following information on it: (1) He is probably a private 1st Class (2) He has lapel pins on both sides and on his had that say - 36 (3)above those lapels it has two cross cannons (4) U.S. pins next to the cross cannons My theory, tell me if I am wrong: 1936 Armor Battalion - Armor Unit Enlisted On the back of this picture (or sketch) it says: La Mar Studios, Inc. & Veteran at World War Any suggestions, comments, advice, or theories will all be appreciated. He left home young, and no one had barely any contact. He was contacted in 1923 for his mother's funeral, but did not attend and did not want to be notified again. This is the story, please help me find "The End" Faith blount@digital.net

    1. [WVA] Daniel Leander Arthur?
    2. Faith Blount
    3. Anyone ever heard of Daniel Leander Arthur? I have proof of my ggrandfather being Lee Anderson Arthur according to death records, but... was told by a family member today that his daughter had written out this name along with his children and wife's name. So I am just checking all of my leads. b. 12Nov1863 d. 31Jan1946 It is also possible he is half Cherokee Indian. Could Leander be an original last name? That might have been changed to Arthur? These are just leads I am following up on. Thanks in advance for any help. Faith blount@digital.net
