    3. Edieann, I have a Bethiah Maxson born ca. 1768 in New Jersey who married ichael Greenlee (my line) in Georges Creek, Fayette County, P 4.19/1872. Michael was born 4/1759 in Kent County, Delaware. His father was also Michael Greenlee; don't know Bethiah's parents. She died in 1819 near Mosiertown, Crawford County, PA. Any connection? 2. J.C.Luzadder
    3. I am new at this so am hoping I am making right inquiries. I am trying to find information on my grandfather-Aaron Columbus Luzadder. I think he was the fourth but am not sure.He lived in the Wickwire area near Grafton but I don't think he was borned there. In Pennsylvania I think. He was married to Rebecca Hawkins. Both are buried at Knottsville Cemetery near Grafton. I have a photo of their tombstone but am unable to read the dates of births and deaths. They moved to the Knottsville area sometime around 1900. The childrens names I remember were Claude,Lawrence,Lovey,Birdy, and Ernest LLoyd Luzadder who was my father. I can trace the family from the 1400's in Spain but cannot connect the Aaron Columbus's from New York-New Jersey-Pa to WV. There seem to be at least four. Would appreciate any correspondence. J.C. 2. Poor House Lady
    3. I would like to invite you to visit a new website called The POORHOUSE STORY at http://www.poorhousestory.com Note: This may be where you jump over your brick wall!!!! (See the Letter to Genealogists) It is meant to be a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American Poorhouses. On the WEST VIRGINIA page we have so far included: Information about poorhouses in the following counties: Kanawha Cabell Pleasants Your comments are welcomed ... I am new at this web-publishing business <grin> ... and your comments are NEEDED. The site will only develop through the submissions of folks like you listers. Volunteers are also needed to transcribe existing information for posting. If you are interested in the historical or sociological implications of the poorhouse system, you will find TONS of info to explore. But if your interest is strictly genealogical, you may be most interested in the RECORDS page or the CEMETERY page -- as well as your own State page. Please do NOT respond to me through this list. (I would get FIRED and/or SUED by my ISP if I maintained subscriptions to all the e-mail lists to which I am posting this announcement!) Please respond off-list ... or I may miss your post. Happy Hunting! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    2. Virginia Hamrick
    3. We have posted an Index to Archibald Henderson's Dumfries Store Ledger in Prince William County for the years 1758-60. Archibald was first thought to be Alexander Henderson's older brother, but it now appears he may have been a more distant relative, perhaps an uncle who was soon to be given a greater responsibility in the management of the Glassford enterprises then growing in strength in Glasgow, Scotland. It is thought that this is the Archibald who was the source for the name given to the first Commandant of the United States Marine Corp, another Archibald Henderson. This store passed off most of its tobacco purchases to its sister store in Colchester, a few miles to the north in Fairfax County. This index and others may be found at http://www.northernneckfamilies.com Good hunting. ___________________________________ Virginia Hamrick Association of Archival Transcribers mailto:virginiah@reflexnet.net http://www.northernneckfamilies.com

    1. [WVA] Eskins Family
    2. Hello, I am researching the Eskins family of WVA. Specifically, I am looking for information on Jerome Clinton Eskins (1861-1928), my great-grandfather. The 1900 census places him in Kanawha County, but I can't find information about his parents. I suspect he may be related to George Eskins(1817-1880) of Boone County. I have found three children from George's marriage with Elizabeth Moorehead: DeWitt Eskins, John Monroe Eskins, and Octavia Eskins. Maybe there are more? Thanks in advance for your help with this! I have tried so hard to find something...
