    1. GARRETT Family
    2. marian bonacci
    3. Marriage of John Garrett and Elizabeth King, date and place unknown. No records in Garrett County MD. Children were: Daughters: Mary Elizabeth Garrett August 31, 1875 baptised at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Oakland, MD Nell Garrett, birth place and date unknown Sons were: Granville, George, and Russell, birth place and dates unknown. George was still living in 1957 and lived in Akron Ohio. Granville stayed in Oakland, MD. Russell had a daughter Mae and a son Harper and another daughter, name unknown who married Wayne Grove. I don't know if Edith GARRETT was a daughter of one of these sons. They all moved to West Virginia except George and Granville, but I don't know when. I have no pictures of any of these people, except Edith GARRETT, or if I do my Grandmother didn't write their names in her photo album. I hope I made sense to you. I get myself confused a lot. I would like to find the marriage date of John Garrett and Elizabeth King. I do not know which child was born first so I can not figure a date or place of their marriage. I would also like to find info on the family members who did move to WVA. I do know that after Mary Elizabeth GARRETT married Albert Brant of McHenry, MD that they had a daughter, my grandmother, Bertha Grace Brant, born in Morgantown, WVA January 16, 1897. I wrote for a copy of her birth certificate to both Monongalia County Court House and to Charleston, WV to no avail. My sister and I did as much research on this family as we could while we were there in June but just ran out of time to complete our research. Any help will be gratefully appreciated and any cost for the research if someone can help me will be reimbursed. Please e-mail me direct for cost of search. If I have been unclear on any information please e-mail me direct. Marian L. Bonacci Virginia marianb@home.com

    1. [WVA] Another book for look ups
    2. Hi, Here is another book I just purchased. It will probably take a week or so to get here but this is what it has in it. Just let me know and I will put you in the look up file. I know it is for Monongalia Co. but who knows. Look at all the surnames covered. Thank you, Cathy Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley, West Virginia Bernard L. Butcher (1912), 1999 Softcover, two volumes, 1999 reprint of this 1912 two volume set, as new, Index, 1,037 total pages. According to the publisher: "These two volumes present in the aggregate the most exhaustive collection of West Virginia genealogies ever assembled. Some 400 families are treated, each family sketch commencing with the known ancestors of the first settler and proceeding in the direct line of descent to representatives of the family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The genealogies are presented in a series of independent sketches and incorporate the important facts regarding the ancestry, personal careers, and matrimonial alliances of those who held leading positions in social, professional, and business life. This work was originally published in 1912 in three volumes consisting of a series of historical sketches and a multitude of full-page photographic portraits; however, for reasons of economy, these have been omitted, enabling us to reprint an abridged edition in two volumes. The original pagination, here commencing with page 363 of the original, is maintained because it corresponds to the page references in the index. The following is a list of the families treated: Abbaticchio, Alexander, Alfred, Allen, Allender, Amos, Anderson, Anthony, Armstrong, Arnett, Arnold, Ashcraft, Atchison, Avis, Bailey, Baker, Bamcord, Barnes, Barrickman, Bartlett, Batten, Beaty, Bender, Bennett, Bentley, Bevington, Bice, Black, Blackshere, Bland, Bond, Boso, Bowcock, Bowman, Boydston, Boyers, Brand, Brandon, Britton, Brock, Brown, Brownfield, Buchanan, Bumgardner, Burdett, Burnside, Burton, Butcher, Callahan, Campbell, Carder, Carpenter, Carper, Carr, Carter, Casey, Casselberry, Church, Clark, Clayton, Clifford, Coffman, Cole, Conaway, Conley, Conrad, Cordray, Corley, Costello, Cox, Crile, Cunningham, Cure, Currey, Danser, Davidson, Davis, Dayton, Dean, DeBolt, DeForest, Demain, Dent, Despard, Devison, Dille, Doheny, Dorsey, Douthat, Douthitt, Downs, Dudley, Duff, Duncan, Dunnington, Durbin, Durrett, Dye, Eddy, Edmondson, Elder, Elliott, Ernst, Evans, Faris, Farnsworth, Ferguson, Ferry, Fife, Findley, Finly, Finnell, Fisher, Fisk, Fitch, Flanagan, Fleming, Fletcher, Ford, Francis, Francois, Furbee, Gandy, Garlow, Garrett, Gaskin, Gaston, Glancy, Glasscock, Goff, Goodwin, Gordon, Gore, Grant, Green, Greene, Gregg, Griffin, Hale, Hall, Halterman, Hanes, Hardesty, Hardy, Harmer, Harr, Harrison, Hart, Hartley, Hatfield, Haught, Hawkins, Hayden, Hayes, Haymond, Haynes, Heavener, Hefner, Heinze, Hennen, Henry, Hess, Higginbotham, Highland, Higinbotham, Hiner, Hite, Hodges, Hoffman, Hogg, Holden, Holland, Holt, Hood, Hornor, Hough, Howard, Huey, Hughes, Hursey, Huston, Hutton, Ice, Irvin, Jackson, Jacobs, Jarrett, Jarvis, Jenkins, Johnson, Johnston, Jolliffe, Jones, Keener, Kellar, Kelley, Kessler, Kincaid, King, Koblegard, Krebs, Lane, Langfit, Latham, Law, Layton, Lazear, Lazier, Lazzelle, Leahy, Lee, Leonard, Leps, Lewis, Lightburn, Lilley, Lockwood, Lodge, Long, Lorentz, Lough, Loving, Lowe, Loyd, Lucas, Lyon, Madeira, Malloy, Maloy, Manown, Martin, Mason, Mathers, Maxwell, McCarty, McCleary, McClelland, McCray, McDaniel, McDonald, McGraw, McGregor, McGrew, McGuire, McIntire, McKinley, McKone, McLane, McNeely, McNeill, McReynolds, McVicker, Meredith, Miller, Mills, Mitchell, Moore, Moreland, Morfit, Morgan, Morris, Morrison, Mount, Mumford, Musgrave, Neely, Neptune, Newcomb, Newton, Nichols, Nutter, O'Brien, Offner, Ogden, Orr, Osborn, Parkes, Parrish, Parsons, Patterson, Paul, Payne, Peck, Pepper, Perine, Phillips, Pickenpaugh, Pierpont, Pigott, Post, Potter, Powell, Pratt, Price, Proudfit, Purinton, Race, Rainey, Randall, Randolph, Reay, Reed, Reeder, Rice, Riedy, Rightmire, Roane, Robinson, Rodeheaver, Rogers, Rohrbough, Rosier, Ross, Ruhl, Rumbaugh, Satterfield, Schwaner, Schwenck, Scott, Shaver, Shaw, Shields, Shinn, Short, Showalter, Shriver, Shuman, Simmons, Simpson, Sivey, Skidmore, Slater, Sloan, Smalley, Smith, Smoot, Snider, Snyder, Sommers, Southern, Sperry, Spindler, Steel, Steele, Stewart, Stockert, Stockton, Stoetzer, Stout, Strosnider, Strother, Stuart, Sturgiss, Supler, Sutherland, Sutton, Swager, Swartz, Swiger, Swisher, Tate, Taylor, Tetrick, Thomas, Thorn, Trach, Turney, Van Vance, Vandervort, Voorhis, Wade, Walker, Ward, Warder, Wardwell, Warman, Washington, Watkins, Watson, Weaver, Wendel, Whetsell, White, Whitehill, Whiteman, Whitescarver, Wiedebusch, Williams, Willis, Wilson, Wilt, Withers, Wood, Woodley, Worley, Yeager, Yost, and Young."

    1. [WVA] genalogical books- LOOKUPS
    2. Hi, I just purchased a book on Greenbrier Co.. I have a bid in on two other books, for different Counties. Here is the discription of the book I just purchased. Greenbrier County, West Virginia Wills 1780-1865, compiled by Pauline Haga softcover bound [8 ½ x 11], 93 pages with index and map This is a basic abstraction of the wills from 1780-1865 from Greenbrier County! In the abstracts you can expect to find the deceased, date, place, some family members or others as witnesses and executors/trix. Sometimes brief sometimes lengthy with more info. She has also included original copies of a few wills, (perhaps so we will appreciate how hard her job really is!). \ Anyone wanting a look up, just let me know. The book won't get here for about a week but let me know and I will do as soon as it arrives. Cathy

    1. [WVA] Rowley/Stanley/Barnhart
    2. Am searching for information on the family of James ROWLEY & Sarah STANLEY, who were married 1 December 1833 in Jackson County, VA (WV). I believe that one of their children, Anna ROWLEY, married my ggg grandfather James BARNHART. In the 1850 Jackson County Census is the following household: Sarah ROWLEY 49 born Mason County, VA William 19 born Jackson County, VA Calvin 12 born Jackson County, VA Sarah ROWLEY & family are living next door to the following family: James BARNHEART 20 Anna 15 According to Jackson County Marriages transcribed by Wes Cochran, James Barnhart married Anna Rosoly (?) on 4 April 1850. I believe that Anna's maiden name should read ROWLEY instead of Rosoly. I was sent a copy of the actual handwritten record of the 1850 Jackson County Census. One way I look at it, I see ROWLEY. Another way I look at it, I see Rosoly. So it probably was the same for Wes Cochran when he transcribed Jackson County marriage records. The fact that he put a question mark beside Rosoly in his book, is proof that he was unsure of the brides surname. There are no other families in Jackson County at the time or since named Rosoly. That along with the proximity of the James "BARNHEART" household to the Sarah ROWLEY place, leads me to believe that Anna ROWLEY was the d/o James ROWLEY & Sarah STANLEY. Other circumstantial evidence is found in 1870 Jackson County, WV Census records. James BARNHART & wife Annie are listed with 10 children. Among the children are William, Calvin & James -- the names of Sarah ROWLEY's children & husband respectively, according to the annotated 1850 Jackson County Census. Can anyone help me piece together the family of James ROWLEY & Sarah STANLEY? Thank you in advance for any information or guidance. I look forward to reading your E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com
