    3. Good morning everyone, It's been suggested there were Catholic chrurches in Hundred and Littleton, Wetzel Co. c 1879. Does anyone know how I could do research on their baptism records? Am looking for my father: (Francis) Theodore Cornet b. 2 April 1879 WV. The 1880 censu has him as Theodore, but every other record as well as family usage he was referred to as Francis Theodore. All my inqueries have stated both names but to no avail. He died 18 Nov 1939 in Pittsburgh. Thanks to everyone who tries to help me. Most sincerely, I am, Mary Lou Cornett Carr

    3. Greetings to one of the hardest working groups online, I've marveled at the newest addition to the Marshall Co. site and copied some info on St. Joseph's church where two uncles and one aunt were baptized (I have records). My problem is: In the 1880 Proctor DST., Wetzel Co.WV census, my father is listed along with his parents and older siblings as: Cornet, Theodore, age 1 yr., born WV. I have written to all of the most northern counties in WV and no one has a birth record for him and St. Joseph's does not have a baptism record for him. Tried Charleston, too, but no luck. Is there a way to get the addresses for the other Catholic churches in the northern most section of WV for 1878-1880 so that I can further search for a baptism record? I've found records for 7 aunts and uncle but none for my own father. If anyone can help, I'd surely appreciate it. Thanking you, sincerely, I am, Mary Lou Cornet Carr P.S. His parents were Jacob and Katherine Burkhart Cornet His birthday was said to be 2 April 1879

    3. Dear Julie, I have done a very little bit of research on Harris's in Virginia. I do not see any match, but it is very easy to send you what I have in that time frame--even though I have no real hope of finding a match.... My Harris family also starts in Virginia and ends up in WV...although my people come to the southern part--the coal fields... I start with William Harris whose known children are Nancy, William, John, Anderson, Lucy, Richard, and Samuel W. born between 1779 and 1795. My husband comes down from Samuel W. I know that they were living in Virginia--but I do not know where yet. My Samuel W. then marries Nancy Apperson and they have 10 children. Sarah Ann, Rebecca Katherine, Martha Jane, Thomas Jefferson, Malinda Levitta, Mary L. John, Elizabeth F. and Samuel Sterling who were born between 1827 and 1848. I am pretty sure that Samuel Sterling was born in Appomatix Virginia. I have more on later generations and I have specific dates on the people named above. But that is pretty much all that I have at this point. Just sending it along in case you see a fit somewhere...Marsha in WV "B. 3. Hello all, Some of you may recall my unrelenting quest for info. about my James H. Harris and finding descendants. Well, finally I have found a cousin! And in finding her it has brought me a few steps closer to solving one of the biggest mysteries I've posted. To recap: James H. Harris b.abt.1819 in VA. Find him in Rockbridge Co. VA when he married Elizabeth P. Mateer in 1847. Find him again with Elizabeth on the 1850 census record of Rockbridge Co. VA with two of the children: Romulus and Regina. Find him again on the 1860 census of Ritchie Co WV with an Elizabeth and more children: Romulus, Regina, Mary M., James H., Robert C., Sarah J., Leonides, and Josephine L. Bear age 15. 1870--don't know where he was 1880 finds him and an Elizabeth on the Ritchie Co. census with James H., Leonides, and now William M. the youngest of the kids who was born 1861. The rest of the kids have moved on. You all might remember me posting a query about info. I had found on the LDS site in reference to finding James H. Harris and his children, first posted with the mother Elizabeth P. Mateer and second posted with the mother Elizabeth Miller-Bare. Well, the cousin I have found and her grandmother who is still living, descend from the child Sarah J. Harris. >From speaking with them I have been able to find out that Sarah J. Harris removed to Salt Lake with her husband and family. Sarah's husband, Oscar Brinkley, died in Salt Lake and Sarah moved to California. She did this because her brother, Robert C. Harris was living there. My new cousins grandmother remembers Robert C. Harris, she called him Uncle Dick and what she remembers most was him telling her that he and Sarah were half siblings...they had different mothers. This would diffently explain why I find Elizabeth P. Mateer and Elizabeth Miller-Bare both listed as mother. This would explain why Josephine L. Bear is listed as living with James and family in 1860. Robert and Sarah where next two each other in the birth order. Robert being born about 1855 and Sarah being born about 1857. This would mean that Elizabeth p. Mateer died between 1855 and 1857 and James remarried to Elizabeth Miller-Bare before Sarah was born in 1857. I also know that one of the Elizabeth's died in 1886 and then James goes on to remarry Emily Somers in 1886. What I need to find is an exact death record for Elizabeth P. Mateer and one Elizabeth Miller-Bare (Harris?) Now I know that the Elizabeth buried in the Harris cemetery is the wife of James H. Harris and the tombstone reads 1819 to 1886 but the thing of it is...Both Elizabeth's were born about the same time. I also need to find the marriage of James H. Harris to Elizabeth Miller-Bare. I also need to find where James was living in 1870 as he does not show up in the 1870 Ritchie Co. census records. Please let me know what you all think....
