    2. Oh no! I am sorry everyone for sending this to the list. It's so confusing with some lists having replies sent to the list and another list having them sent to the person. Sorry about that again and sorry Allison.

    2. To all of you wonderful people who jumped right on my e-mail: Unfortunately, I'm not home and do not have the URL with me. I tried to use favorite places to put a hyperlink in the note, but since I'm not on my own computer it doesn't want to cooperate. I have been trying for the last two hours to locate the web page to get the URL, but without my favorite places I'm lost. I will continue to try and locate the page and if successful will get to everyone. I will be home in a week, but I hope to solve this situation sooner. If anyone has a solution, I would love to hear it. Again, thanks. Bob in Atlanta

    1. [WVA-L] Janet Waite, Please read!!
    2. B. Steven
    3. To Janet Waite, This passage was taken from the History of Ritchie Co.: Daniel Mason and his wife Rachel Deacon, came from Marion county as early as 1852, and settled near Cornwallis, and from there removed to the Mt. Pisgah vicinity where their grandson, Thomas Mason now lives. Here they passed from earth and in the White Oak churchyard they repose. Their eldest son Thomas, lost his life in the Union service; Reilly and Sanford are of Webster county; Eber is of Pennsboro; Frank, of California; Webster met a tragic death from an accidental discharge of a gun in his young manhood, and the only daughter died in infancy. I know you have been working on this publication and was hoping you could help me with some information. Where did she get her information? I descend from this Daniel Mason and Rachel Dicken/Deacon but there were more children in the family and I have nothing on a Webster Mason. Daniel and Rachel were married on Sep. 17,1832. Children I have for Daniel and rachel are: Eber Mason Riley Mason Lucinda Mason died in childhood Thomas Mason Eli Mason Franklin Mason John D. Mason Daniel W. Mason Sanford L. Mason All info. I have states that Thomas was not the eldest son but rather Eber was. Can you shed any light on this??? Thanks in advance for your help Julie _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/

    3. I am searching for any information on D. Miles Gilmore. I don't know what the D stands for. I estimate he was born around 1815 or 1820 but not sure. It is thought that he came from Ireland. I don't know anything for sure because he disappeared and the family heard nothing else from him. I think he had a temper that caused him to get in scrapes with the law, causing him to move around. I'm hoping that someone will recognize or remember seeing the name somewhere. Any information appreciated, thank you, Sonja

    1. [WVA-L] FOREST/FORREST, GORDON, CARPENTER FAMILIES
    2. penny peace
    3. Dear List members, I have hit the proverbial brick wall big time on my FOREST/FORREST family. JAMES FOREST/FORREST married MAZIE GORDON in Botetourt Co VA in 1805. (I believe Mazie was the daughter of GILES GORDON). This James Forest/Forrest next shows up in Gallia/Meigs Co OH circa 1807. The only other mention I've found for a James Forest/Forrest is a 1800 Botetourt Co VA tax list - upper district- for one male and one horse and I don't know if this is my James for sure. James' father was a JOHN FOREST/FORREST who was married at least twice (maybe three times). His last wife was ROSANA/ROSINA CARPENTER. Haven't been able to locate a marriage record for them although other records show that this Rosana/Rosina was in W. VA prior to her marriage. . This John's other wives may have had the first names of SERIAH, AWZILLA, AURILLA. Could I ask list members to check their data for any mention of FOREST, FORREST, GORDON, CARPENTER? Any clues or hints would be greatly appreciated and I would try to reciprocate in some way. Do you have any unidentified Seriahs, Awzillas, Aurillas?? Do any of you have any of these surnames that ended up in OH? HELP!!! Thanking you for your attention. PENNY [email protected]

I've seen someone post on the Melungeon list (Melungeon-L) about them being a branch of the Delaware tribe (the Mannoy, I think) that isn't Federally recognized. There's a brief article about them on http://www.melungeons.org: you may have to do a search on the site to find the article. I have a picture of a Guinea descendant, my gggrandfather, Henry Colerider (b. in Buckhannon), at http://Web.InfoAve.Net/~elwhitaker/mystanc.html. He's the dark gentleman in the center of the small picture. Elizabeth Whitaker

    2. Brandon White
    3. Hello everyone. I'm looking for information on the Blessing surname, specifically I would like to find one Samuel Joseph Blessing (born in 1852 in what became West Virginia). I am unsure as to the county so unfortunately I will have to post this information without any other clues as to the location of Samuel's birth or residence. He married a Lucy Bell Rainey (born about 1857 somewhere in West Virginia) and they had 13 children, all of whom are said to have been born in West Virginia: Bert, Joseph Samuel, Claude, Cecil, Ansel, Carl, Clermont, Clarence, Bessie, Virginia, Mary, Sally, and Margaret. Their births are no specific order. I would appreciate any resonses pertaining to these people. Thank you. Brandon
